In my experience, this happens because some soundman or bandleader says "bass is too loud" and bass player says "I can't hear myself" and thus tries to compensate by overplaying.AGCurry said:Wow.

IMO blistering from playing bass guitar means you are simply playing too damned hard.

Usually, I end up overplaying when I'm playing a solo so it will cut through. Of course, stylistically it's totally wrong...
