Attention is the perfect example this bass tone still blows my mind. It singlehandedly sent me down a synth rabbit hole for the last 3 years.

Sounds like you're a fair bit ahead of me on this particular rabbit hole! Be really interested to hear how far / close you got to nailing the Charlie Puth Attention bass tone and with what kit / rig.

Ewen Vernal - maybe nothing special to many people, but I loved this tone when I first heard it, and chased it until I caught it

I always mention TOOL and Justin Chancellor, but it's because his/their sound was one of the first to draw my attention to the bassist. Always loved Chancellor's tone, and Schism is just a classic, IMO. The bass part drives the whole song, and that picked Wal tone is

Maybe it's super obvious: McCartney's big thick syrupy tone throughout The Beatles. From the swinging walk of "All My Loving" to the boogie of "Revolution", and the swamp feel of "Come Together", he produced a monster tone that always served the song.
