Bob Glaub 5 is real!

Sorry to go a bit OT but Im now thinking that if i get my NP5 put in vintage incorrect that might actually get it slightly closer to where it should be on a proper P. Anyone care to comment on that?
Vintage correct would be to have it installed opposite of what you see on the BG5 pictured. The A string pole pieces on the same bobbin as the E & B. This would be the correct, matching, "Vintage Correct" configuration as a traditional 4 string P.

"Vintage Incorrect" is the GB5 pictured. Your statement is backwards.

Not backwards but maybe not clear IMO.

What i meant was if i get the NP5 installed vintage incorrect, like the BG5 that will bring the pole pieces for the A string sightly further back towards the bridge. Normally doing it like this would mean this is in the wrong, or vintage incorrect, position but as this is going in to a Jazz and so the pup will be slightly closer to the neck wont it put the A pole pieces closer to where it should be on a normal P?

After thinking about it i guess its not really worth the bother.

Yes, unclear. I thought you were relating it on a P bass.
Still wouldn't do it.

This one (at the shop) seems to have the correct placement of the poles (according to what I am reading here):

PS - will be mine once the J pickup comes in..... he he!!!:bassist::hyper:

Hey Guys.
Just got my DJ5 back with its Nordy NP5 and new black scratch plate. Looks really cool now.
One (two actaully) problem is the shop put it in the wrong way around, so not vintage correct. Im guessing its easy to swap the two pickup half's around without doing any wiring. Ill give it a go tomorrow and then ill post some pics.
to be honest it sounds ok through my PC in to headphones so i might leave it.
The other problem is more buzzing. This could well be down to the shops wiring though. Off to a gig tonight with it and cant wait.

Ooh exciting! Do you think it make a huge difference with the p/up that way round?

Would love to see some pics of it. I am working on a similiar project right now :ninja:

OK, just a quick gig update as i dont want to hijack this thread. Ill post the pics tomorrow (hopefully), probably in the Lakland thread.

The Nordy sounded fantastic. Very full but with a certain tone that i didnt get with my Fender P5. Not sure if aggressive is the word but it certainly had character. Very pleased with it. I was surprised how much i liked the two pups on together. This is my first PJ so didn't know what to expect but i found myself using both pups quite a bit. And here lays a problem. The bridge pup is picking up a lot of RF noise. It never used to be like this, not even solo'ed. Now its picking up the noise even if its full on with the neck pup. Not sure what to do about it. Is this normal for a PJ?
Im glad i made the decision to go ahead now, i was getting used to the DJ tone but this is much more "me".

If your J pickup is single coil, you'll get SC noise all the time.

If it's humbucking, you got a wiring problem which should be an easy fix...
