Yep, nobody left to fire the drummer. Godspeed Mr Weir!!!
Just a peek at how many tribute bands that are out there and basically a whole jam band scene and add the advances in sound technology, Weir was part of one of the greatest music legacies In history. Not to mentioned a full on sex symbol for a lot of young women I grew up with. His rhythm playing was often overlooked and a perfect foil for Jerry.

It seems to me that he lived life completely on his own terms. Godspeed my brother.
I’ve the Dead for years. Bobby wasn’t one of the reasons I got into bass, but he did become one of my bass heroes and has had a big influence on my approach to bass. Jamming with Dead music is 10-20% of my play time at home.
RIP Bob. TBH I have been listening to The Grateful Dead for about 40 years and it's only in the last 10 or so that I've gotten to truly appreciate Bob Weir. I was more a fan of Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter songs but came to love a lot of the Bob Weir/John Perry Barlow ones just as much.
Bobby was a lifelong seeker who know how to bring people together and serve the music, the music will never stop.

What a way for me to wake up this Sunday morning hearing of Bob Weir's death!
I was listening to The Dead back in high school and I really loved when they got into the Country Music edge with their album, Working Man's Dead. It actually was the very first Dead Lp that bought at age 18.

Never been a fan of The Grateful Dead. The music was all too loose & rambling for me, both live & in the studio.
However, I have enormous respect for the longevity, hugely successful business model, and fervent fan base the band was able to construct over many decades. No question, Bob Weir was a big reason for that.
RIP, BW. We'll play Not Fade Away in your honor and all The Dead no longer with us.
