At least, I assume he does. Actually, I don't know much about him. Been meaning to check him out for a while now, but I haven't had the time to research him on YT. But I got an email offering a free album to download. I did, haven't listened to it yet, but I want to make a car CD and there is about 16 minutes of empty space, so I was wondering what else to snag from iTunes and stick on there.

I thought I'd appeal to the Bonamassa fans here to educate me! What are his wildest guitar workouts? Not including the following list (already on the free album):

When it comes to blues Joe & Robben Ford is all I listen to.

Agreed. To be honest I'm more of a Gary Moore fan and see JB as Moore "light" but it's all good.

Look into Live from the Beacon Theater or Live from the Royal Albert Hall. The live version of Mountain Time is really different from the studio track (it starts with a version of Django, and segues into the song played at a different tempo). Dust Bowl rocks, too. Sloe Gin is another great song, but it's slower. Woke Up Dreaming is good for a rocking solo acoustic fix. My wife and I will be seeing him on Monday at the Palace Theater in Albany. Great venue, and he rocked the house when I saw him there a couple of years ago. This show is going to have an acoustic set and then an electric set. Can't wait!

Joe's definitely more fun to listen to live. HUGE fan of the Beacon Theatre recordings (on video too). If I were given the choice to play with who I wanted, Joe tops the list for me.

The show was great tonite. 1st set was a hair under an hour, and had the band from his acoustic live album he did last year. The keyboardist/organist, however, was non other than Reese Wynans. The sound was excellent, and the band was tight. 16 minute break, and then the electric band came out, with Lenny Castro on percussion, and Mr. Wynans on keyboard. 3-piece horn section, and the ever-smooth bass playing of Carmine Rojas. The electric band played from just after 9pm until 10:30. A blistering set and encore, and an all-around great show! They're playing in Boston in a couple days, and wrapping the tour up this weekened at Radio City Music Hall. The NYC shows are going to be recorded and filmed, too. Definitely catch a show if you can!

EDIT: Carmine was playing a 4-string the whole night, unlike his usual 5ers, too.

IMO, Bonamassa is the new Gary Moore. He is an amazing player that can cover so many different genres in a night. I've seen him live twice and has been simply amazing.

I personally think he is:

a) The best guitarist since Clapton
b) An Amazing songwriter
c) An all round amazing human being

My top 3 JB songs are:

Slow Gin - So emotional with killer chops and tone. JB's Still Got The Blues
So Many Roads - The first few notes just draw you in immediately. Great Blues track
Feelin' Good - Simply the best cover of this classic I've heard.

I am for the most part a metal player Buut I was born and bred in the blues. Joe Bonamassa kicks serious ass any time he comes out to vegas my wife and I go to his shows total class act

I also just picked up Different Shades of Blue, and it rocks! If you get a chance to see him live, you owe it to yourself to do it. He puts on a hell of a show with almost no down time at all, and his band absolutely rocks. He released a funk album under the name " Rock Candy Funk Party". Give that a listen, too.
