Both can sound great. There are definitely band leaders out there who would not want the Bongo onstage purely because of the look. That may or may not be a point of consideration for you.

I don't know what a BONGO DIFFERENTIAL SCALE is. Please elaborate. I have owned several Bongo 4 string HH basses. They were great basses. Very consistent. A Bongo is a Bongo is a Bongo. You either like it or you don't. I sold all of my Bongos. A Jazz bass is NOT a Jazz Bass is NOT a Jazz Bass. There are a myriad of available options and configurations available. My best bass ever is a Jazz Bass shaped Warmoth. Fender sells NOTHING like this Jazz Bass. Needless to say I like it way more than anything Fender or EBMM sells. But I still own their basses too. Buy & play what you enjoy. That's what I do. At the end of the day my opinion doesn't matter regarding what you own.

I have a Spector Coda 5 (jazz copy) and a Bongo 5 HH. Love them both for different reasons. Keep both. Then buy another bass

I don't think they're different scale anyway. The Bongo is 24 frets. Maybe that's what he meant.
