Bootsy Collins doing commercials now

^This. I'm really tired of people saying, or at least implying, that a musician is automatically a sellout if he does commercials.

Who is saying that here? Anyway, you may want to read why some artists say no to $1million dollars. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and Invalid Link Removed

Either way, I suppose we can all agree about this particular commercial: Those boots are defenitely NOT made for walking:(

I think some of the responses show an attitude beyond just thinking the commercial sucks. And as far as other artists turning down commercials or any other money-making propositions - what does that have to do with Bootsy? They make their choices, Bootsy makes his. Bootsy once said, "I got a cartoon mind, bobba!" So how is Bootsy making an Old Navy commercial "hijacking a culture's memories"? I was a teenage funkateer throughout the mid-to-late '70s, and I don't feel disappointed, cheated or betrayed at all.

For Old Navy. Seriously:

Old Navy Presents: Bootologist HD - YouTube

The least they could've done was to put a funky tune in the commercial...

I lost respect for him after his nephew passed away from an infected tooth. Bootsy made this big push to get more taxes to go towards dental care for the poor. I'm sorry he lost his nephew, but there are already plenty of free programs out there and all it would have taken was a short bus ride and some free antibiotics or maybe bootsy could've sprung for the bill himself if it was so important. If he would have pushed for awareness instead of money, I'd still think he was a cool guy but now with the commercials too...it's just annoying.

I'm guessing there's a whole lot more to that story. Family can be very complicated; no one should just assume that Bootsy knew about his nephew's condition and did nothing about it.

I've taught a 2nd grader with inflamed holes where her molars used to be and she had no outward signs of illness.
So go easy on whether Bootsy knew or not. Their are many reasons otherwise rational people won't seek healthcare.

Exactly. If you insist on bashing someone, at least be sure you know what you're talking about. Besides, isn't this thread about a simple commercial?

This will quiet any doubters... an Old Navy sponsored event... everything was totally free and open to the general public--free food, entertainment, apparel... Bootsy & band were AMAZING!! Bootsy gave everyone hugs at the end of the show. For real. I woke up this morning and had no idea I would end up here in the afternoon: Invalid Link Removed

We love you Bootsy!
