all true, but generally I use a comp in a very conservative way and I'm fine with it being first (or last). The main issue with an external comp in my view is that its going to end up being on one setting all the time always, on or off ...and that's it. With the built in Comp you can create different comp settings for different patches...
anyway, as I said, I also don't usually need any of the other creative FX as much as I did with guitar. its just not needed by me most of the time... I don't even like the sound of chorused out bass, etc.....and if I need that for something I'll just forgoe the Comp on that one..or if I have to..the toneModify, but probably more likely to give up the comp in a case like that.
