Gotcha, I'll go check those clips out. Any idea when the MI Audio Octave is coming out?
I swear I read somewhere that the MI Audio octave pedal is some wierd fuzz synth type pedal but I could be wrong

Ok...thanks all....I tried changing my touch with the 6 and it worked....definately closer to the neck with a lighter touch works well. I was trying to use the pedal in the same way that I use it with my passive J, which reacts differently with it. Cool.
I did however put myself on the list for an Octron 2 because of this.....I'd love to be able to switch on/off the octave up/down/direct signal all seperately. That would be huge.
I'll keep an eye out for a second hand one for you as well![]()
Thanks! Definately let me know if you see one. Do you have the version 1 or 2?
It also allows you to do something John Davis of Nerve does, as there is an effects loop I sometimes run the octron effects loop out in to the mixer so I can get a oct down signal and then run the end of my chain into the mixer as well so I can get oct down plus effects, also allows you to do blending at the desk if you just leave normal on all the time and stick a di on the effects loop and one at the end the sound man can blend for you. It's good as you don't have to use the return with the send and vice versa so you can use it as a 2nd input for say a theremin if you are nuts like me.
Its not an octave down fuzz at all, its a standard octaver sound very similar to that of the analog units in the 80's tone wise such as the OC-2 and the Octoplus I even heard a rumour that there some similarities in designs, the octave down is clean but sort of gritty, not distorted or fuzzy or even what some might consider overdriven just not as clean as say the micro pog which to me sounds very flat and boring even though it tracks better and can handle chords.
If you check out clips of the octron in the wiki I think you'll be very impressed it's what sold me on mine and I use it loads
That's what I based what I based what I said off of and that was definately a fuzzy octave down.

I used to use an OC-2 and had no problems with it using any of my basses (passive Fender P's, J', and clones, active Music Man, Lakland, Guild, etc.). And the EBS OctaBass that replaced the OC-2 (because it tracks so much better and I really like the sound) works just fine with all my basses.
Pino's classic Boss OC-2 sound on Paul Young's "Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down" is his Music Man StingRay (active of course) through the OC-2.
Now, if you use extreme EQ settings that may be sending your pedal too much garbage information. But most problems people have with octave pedals and envelope filters is technique that doesn't give the pedal a good reliable and clean signal. Listen carefull to how you sound with a clean and uncolored amp (even a headphone amp will help).
