I like the look of this. I dont have any experience with loopers, but hopefully the smaller size means a simpler operation... or is it going to be the opposite? Cant wait till someone can do a review of this.

this doesn't look like any improvement at all...now it appears that you've got pretty much the same features, only now is a smaller box, so things are even more complicated...what Boss really should be doing is making their loopers better...not smaller.

now you've got the same pedal as ever, only in a smaller box!

don't people get mad at other companies for repackaging the same product?

looks great. I mostly used an RC-20 for triggering drum loops, synth parts etc live vs bass looping so at this size it'll be ideal for me.

Yeah I can see your point: its only logical that re-packaging a 'bigger' product into a smaller one would necessitate a more complex operating system in the new pedal. But i suppose that it will remain to be seen exactly how this pedal will operate until someone can get their hands on it.

I just bought an RC20-XL used off a fellow TB'er for $180. I think thats a better option than this pedal. Looks like it just got a lot smaller and a lot more complex to operate...

Eh, they're doing the same thing as E-H with it's nono pedals. I don't see a problem as it's supposed to be more affordable as well -- pay more for more functions/greater usability. Makes sense to me.

That said, I don't intend to buy one (already have an RC-20xl which I love). I blame the whole "we need to make smaller, more 'user-friendly' loopers" bit on the popularization of loopers in single-guitar acoustic folk and pop.

The RC-2 doesn't have a reverse function which is annoying, otherwise i'd be getting one for sure. Think i'll go for the RC-20XL instead.

Steve Lawson actually makes great use of it on a fair amount of songs. It seems to work best as an ambient background loop.

I have made a lot of use of backwards looping in "ambient industrial" type tracks. But not in a melodic context.

but seriously, yes, reverse has many thoroughly musical uses. any kind of ambient music or music that involves a degree of soundscaping will use it heavily. laying down a reversed bassline will have limited appeal (although ive done it ) but thats hardly the point...

listen to some sigur ros tracks sometime or something along those lines!
