Bossa Bass Club

Indeed there are Bossa Tribute's up on Ebay...and I understood from the owner of Bossa..he's quite annoyed about this fact, as they are simply copycats and not officially licensed by Real Bossa Design, Japan!...seems they had been first build in China & now coming from Korea/Taiwan?...their quality is sure not high-end & identical with the original Bossa's!...though more affordable, they are lacking the better wood, preamp & hardware options of the originals...that's what I know so far & I could be also wrong..:)
They are made in the Philippines... Some really good wood but the rest crap. I think the owner is making them there for a different price point only..

Oh really from the Philippines? :-)...hmm...at the moment I can't recall where they are really from.:-)..but Mr. Setozaki told me once, they are not coming from him & are also not licensed by him...he feels annoyed & want to sue this builder!...if they are actually Philippine's made, no wonder they look nice yet lacking the quality of the original's! :-)

Now part of the Bossa club:). I am assuming it is an OBJ-5, but not sure the difference between that and a UBJ-5. This thing sounds and plays amazing, very cool preamp and pickups! Does anyone know who manufactured the preamp and pickups, because they look and sound awesome?!

My Stingray, 5, Sterling 5, and Jazz Deluxe 5 will be taking a back seat for a while, if not forever. You never know though, it could just be the new flavor of the month, would not be the first time.

Peace

Cool looking Bossa!
I have a Bossa Ob-5 that ends in serial number 04.. I’ve always assumed it was made in 04 - With yours ending in 01, I’d assume it was made in 2001. I can’t be entirely certain tho, just guessing... Old Bossa’s are great basses & getting harder to find, & I love them.

I have a UJB-4 that's 790123. Color is similar, but electronics are completely passive.
