Bought a new amp: now should I sell my Shiftline Olympic?

I just got a tone hammer 500 v2. It does headphone and aux in, and has IRs. This is usually what I was using my shift line Olympic mkiiis for.

So, what would you do? Keep something on a shelf because I might use it one day, or sell to free up space and a little bit of money. I'm on the fence because I've sold and missed gear after it's gone, but I also don't want to keep something around that will become obsolete eventually.

Some food for thought —

If I'm not mistaken, they're based in Russia. I can't imagine it's all that easy to import something from Russia since the war? And with all the new wars, I can't imagine it's going to get any easier, let alone cheaper. Oh, and the tariffs…

The other thing, I have an AG v2, and the stock IRs are very dark, IMO. I don't know anything about IRs, and I haven't loaded customs ones, but it makes me wonder — Are the Aguilar IRs just dark? Or is it something in the technology they use that makes all IRs loaded in the head dark?

I would keep it for now.

These are all good points. Maybe holding onto it for now is a good choice.

Do what is right for you. What I would do is not relevant. However, since you asked: I don't tend to sell stuff and I have basement full of amps. I certainly don't need all of them, but I enjoy playing through them.

If I needed money to fund something else, I wouldn't hesitate to sell. For now, it's not necessary and I really don't want to deal with the hassle of selling stuff.

Talkbass standard answer: KEEP IT!

My real-life approach: if I leave something on the shelf for more than 1 year without touching it, it is totally possible that when I'll need it, it won't work as expected. (e.g. in case of an amp, pots may get scratchy for instance).
So in these cases, I sell it.

For me, the process involves several questions I ask myself:
Do I need the cash ASAP? Sell. If not, I keep the unit around for a while longer and see if there is use for it.

Once gone, how easy will it be to get another, should I find that I want it back? I'm more likely to sell a pedal that is in production and can be ordered at any given time than selling a pedal that took years to find because only 200 were made and they stopped 20 years ago.

The last question would be "is there something special about this particular unit".

Keep it until you know for certain that the TH does everything you used the Shiftline to do.
Just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean it'll do what you need it to exactly like you need it to.

Not sure if you are gigging, but every gigging bassist needs a backup amp/cab......multiple is better.

I leave one at my house, and one in our drummer's studio. If I happen to be in multiple bands, I need enough to spread around in the varioua rehearsal studios, because I'm lazy and don't wanna lug gear unless necessary.

Keep it until you haven't needed it for a few years, then think about selling it.

I recently sold almost all my pedals to my local MusicGoRound store, only kept three. Most of them I bought three or four decades ago but never took them out on a gig
