I almost went double binding on my G&L but the extra few hundred wasent worth it for me.

No, it's not. While it's an impressive looking feature and very very classy, you only see it at certain angles, so most of the time you'd be the only one who knew it was there. I'd rather spring for a top of some sort.

I got one from [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] second hand for about €800 after shipping and taxes. Best bargain in basses there is IMO.

logic for two strap buttons on the butt of a bass body: balances when you rest it against something without a stand. one button = lean and potential fall ... two buttons properly placed = balance


here's a bass that Chef got to play when he was out in Seattle a month or so back. I definitely need to shoot a better image to show off just how deep and gorgeous that spalted top really is

it's currently set-up with an OBP-1, Aero Type I's, in a V/B/B+T/Passive configuration ... the image is when I had this loaded with a U Retro Deluxe. All who have played this describe the tone and playability as being that of a Sadowsky

My favorite is checkerboard binding on Rickenbackers. I actually prefer playing my unbound Rics since they are slightly more comfortable but the check binding is stunning (IMO).

Thanks, man, I think so too. I'd never considered a short scale bass before, but that body is semi-hollow mahogany with an arched maple top--the sound coming out of it is HUGE. And, I mean, come on, look at it!
