Been playing this one a lot recently. The Vance books really are gold.

Relaxation! Besides that, I’m going to try playing a little more off the string. I watched Jason Heath’s take and it’s a brighter tempo and a little more spiccato. Also, I think my sound point could be a little lower. And I could be using a lot more bow.Sounds good!
What aspect are you trying to work on right now?

That makes sense to me re: isolating phrases. As far as intonation, it’s not perfect. I realized after that I needed to isolate those ascending eighth note arpeggios and drill down a bit.Makes sense.
I think something that would really help would be a more careful treatment of the phrases. Sounds like one big block right now.
I like to mark the phrases out with parentheses. Then, for a start, take each phrase and just consider if it’s louder or softer than the preceding one.
How do you feel about the intonation?
Thanks! Re: the bridge, it may be a little warped but I just took took the bass to my luthier and he didn’t say anything. I did have to have the bridge straightened a few years back but was told it was not yet time for a new one.The good - you get a nice sound
Stuff to get better - intonation and relaxed smooth shifting.
Did you listen to Vance playing it on the included cd?
That’s how you want sound. Copy him!
By the way, is it my imagination or is your bridge at an angle or a bit warped?
You really do not want it to fall. Maybe it’s just an illusion.
