Not at all. After having listened to one or two of Damon's clips, I thought the comment was hysterical. Never delete good comedy.

Check the way he worded it -- "if Vitous could have played bass--"

My guess is he's not a fan of the way Vitous plays...a lack of anchorage on that Chick album, probably? I haven't heard it (yet) but that might be what it means.

- I meant Vitous instead of Haden as in Vitous/Konitz/Lightsey (yes, I got him confused with Kirkland, still a great player, Cecil Taylor is huge fan) instead of Haden/Konitz/Mehldau. I love Miroslav Vitous - not a fan of Haden's non- free playing. I have never gotten around to "Now he sings, now he sobs" for some reason, but I am huge fan of that trio, I have the two on ECM, The one with the lp of Monk and the LP of free stuff is amazing - talk about "art of the trio"!

Oh man, do so forthwith. Miroslav's solo on the first cut changed my life when I first heard it, and I'm still hard-pressed to find a bass solo as filled with the sound of pure joy at having a bass in one's hands.

+1. Truly inspiring album for bass playing, and a real kick in the pants in other ways as well--composition, harmony, trio dynamic.
