Brass saddles on a fretless

I’ve gone through about nine different fretless bases in the past two years. I’ve had pretty much every kind of bridge. You can imagine, and have swapped some. I found they really make no difference. Brass saddles can be purchased on Amazon for under $20 and can be swapped into a standard bridge. A fairly inexpensive method to see if there is an actual difference. I recently purchased a sire and thought I may need to swap out the bridge for ease of string change purposes, but the Bass sounds and plays so well, I’m not going to bother.

I'd go with a wooden bridge saddle for a true fretless sound.

Brian Barrett of Low End swears by brass nuts. He uses them on all his builds. One things for sure , expect a long life from one. Minimal weight increase on the nut, brass bridge is a different story.

It’s cool Sire is using threaded saddles on a bent bridge. That’s my preferred set up.
