BREAKING NEWS: A shift from Ampeg to Aguilar

Sam, I was more of a fan of the old U.S.A. Pro Series models & they are not made here anymore & I felt the quality sound & reliability isn't there with them anymore. That is why I switched. Like I said to Jimmy, Marco explained their situation on another thread, & so far, so good.

Fat Steve, I never signed any contract with Markbass, not even sure if they do have me on the official artist list (never felt the need to ask), but I have always been treated as an artist by them in every way, & if I need things they take care of me(I don't get paid by them or get free amps, just artist deals) Marco & company have been very good to me over the years, as have his amps & cabs. I have similar situation with a few other companies. I am on the roster for a few companies, but I don't get paid by any of them either(most people don't get paid, just artist deals). If my situation requires me to disclose this, then let me know & I will make the changes needed. Although I have looked at this site for years, I just recently created a screen name, so I don't know all the guidelines.

I wasn't really hacking on you (I agree with a lot of what you're saying) but it is helpful to know where people's official allegiances are....you don't want to come off as being a shill.

Bands play live on tv at night on nightly talk shows almost every day of the work week... I thought that was a pretty commonly known thing. Also as a Mexican-American who lives amongst people with the name Aguilar it is pronounced ah-gee-lahr. Notice the ah is not the same as the aw sound. just fyi

Jeff, I didn't feel like you were heckling me, just want to make sure I am doing what's required for the site. Yes, I am a Spector artist. I am also a Pigtronix & Source Audio artist. Not trying to hide anything, like I said if my situation is a requirement then let me know & I will make appropriate changes. I was just trying to give my opinion on what the original poster said & then many posts later when I felt that people thought I was saying it because I played Aguilar, I wanted to make it clear what I played by simply putting Markbass in parenthesis. I never tried to make this thread about Markbass, it somehow became that way just by me actually disclosing what I do play. With something as simple as that this the thread became a crazy mess, which hopefully doesn't happen on every thread or I won't be sticking around long.

I like to see peoples choices in gear, why they use them, what some people might feel is the best stuff out there, etc... I try out all the companies gear at NAMM every year, & talk to others there too. The more knowledge of what's out there the better & it helps me seek out new gear for different sounds I am looking for. As we are all on the never ending search for more tonal capabilities! I play what I play because that is what my ears & hands like the most for what I am going for & expect everyone else to do the same, would never expect or even want everyone to all play the exact same gear. Music wouldn't have all the different unique sounds that keep things interesting & growing if everyone did.

Thanks Steve! I did find the thing in the profile section & have now disclosed it. I don't go around telling everyone I am an endorsed artist, so never would have thought something like that was a requirement. Having endorsements, playing with different people, etc... doesn't make me or anyone else a better player than others. & by putting it out there on a forum of people I don't know, I feel it is pompous. But I'll do it if that's the requirement. I work hard & put my time in. I played all the companies I endorse before I became an artist for them, because that is what I felt was the best stuff for me. Things came together later. I turned down other companies over the years (which I would never disclose which companies they were)because I didn't believe in their product, which is a BIG thing for me. Just because I am an artist for company does not mean I don't like & think other companies are great too.

Haha. I forgot Graeber posted that up! That was a complete danger jam with the 3 of us, no previous ideas brought in. Just kick a groove, feed & read off of each other! My favorite way of beginning the writing process of songs.
