You're going to compare the BA series to the SVT? Seriously?
Is that so? The power section is Bang and Olafson... Is that made in USA? Can you say for sure that the smt pre boards are made in USA? Or is it all imported stuff bolted together in NYC? See 2:15. The Ampeg I used to buy from was just "Ampeg" ... there was no "BA" this or that.. no import / export.. it was just good equipment.
I went in naively looking for a good combo.. I ASSumed the name meant I was safe. I plugged in and was in total disbelief. My point being that when Mesa puts their name on a combo, you get the Walkabout.. Ampeg's name now doesn't necessarily mean what it use to. So, I walked out a new Mesa customer.

Nope. Most expensive BA is about 500. Walkabout is 3 times the price. Does that indicate anything to you? To me it says Ampeg simply skips over the high priced combos and goes directly to the new heritage B fliptops and tradition head / cab configurations.
Personally when I'm spending )1500, I definitely do not want a combo. I want a th500 and a good cab.

From some of these posts, you would think someone called someone else's kid ugly.
No kidding. Just because a company is making great sounding, reliable, easy to use stuff doesn't mean more pros are starting to use it because everything else is crap.....
I'd rather buy something that was screwed together from domestic and foreign parts down the street from my house (literally) than something that was screwed together from domestic and foreign parts on the other side of the world.
I like both, and others too. Perhaps I'm a dork but I do enjoy seeing the same gear I use being used in a live setting weather it's on TV, on a big stage or in a small bar just around the corner.
Given an amp of sufficient power, I can get a really nice tone from anything. I love tubes but I am mostly playing a GK 700rb now. I would love an SVT if someone else carried it and I cant really justify a V4B for the mostly jamming I do now. Aguilar, Ampeg, even Berehinger will get the job done.
I have noticed that while all amps have certain characteristics, they also have a variety of knobs.. Those knobs really work.

Surely it means that here in Europe both Ampeg and Aguilar are unreliable crap.
Then it's a good thing that, like most people, I am an American, and doubly fortunate that, like most Americans, I live in New York City.

So a combo that costs almost 4x what a BA115 costs sounds better than a BA115? You have got to be kidding! And all of Mesas amps are called the Walkabout? Come on, dude. You're comparing apples and oranges and expecting not to be able to tell the difference. The BA115 is a budget combo. The Walkabout is SOOOO not a budget combo.
To return to the OP, I also notice a lot of Aguilar rigs in use by the touring acts that come through town. My next shopping trip is definitely going to be to demo one.
