My only problem is how do you pronounce it? Ampeg is easy .. Aguilar? No idea. agYOOlar? AGwillAR? AJEELar?

Your second one is how I pronounce it; right or wrong, my guess is that is how the average person would probably say it.

Some people mic their rigs. Some people run DI's from their rigs. But let's assume they don't...you and the rest of the band also needs to hear it, and unless you're playing super duper quiet, everyone can hear your rig anyway, not only from the rig itself, but from other mics on the stage picking it up.
BTW, it's spelled "Aguilar" but it's pronounced "Throat wobbler mangrove."
Many times on the NBC morning shows the vocals are mixed so over-bearing I suspect it is the only thing that is live (with no pitch correction).
I actually see more Aguilar rigs in studios. Some old school GK and some old school Hartke as well. Only came across an Ampeg backline once in all my years of gigging and that was recent.

Seriously, what are you guys? 12? You're that emotionally invested into Aguilar that it matters to you that everyone uses it? I could understand it if your last name was Boonshoft, otherwise it makes zero sense to me.
Doesn't bother me. I've never used an Aguilar and I don't like the sound of an Ampeg. I'm more of an SWR/Markbass guy, but I certainly wouldn't want EVERYONE using them. I think it's more or less just a trend. I don't see people 20 years from now all owning at least 1 Aguilar like they do with Ampeg stuff.

Load of crap. The only people who say Ampeg went to crap are those who haven't played any recent stuff.
Oh crap! I better switch, otherwise I will be deemed inferior by my peers!
So how does this work if i'm on aguilar gear already but never owned an ampeg? Sell off my rig to fund a SVT with fridge and then do the switch ?
They are great amps and their marketing is fierce. They did a good job of getting many great bass players on their roster who push their stuff and in making their gear readily available at most backline companies like SIR.
