Double Bass Breaking News NEW EDB-2 VAP From Headway

@JeffKissel What is a “fly rig”? I’ve seen this term several times recently.
A small self contained set up you can fly with, usually a pedal board. It typically inserts via DI straight into a FOH system and/or provided backline rig. In my case, I don't fly that much but I often don't use an amp just the preamp and DI into a FOH PA.

The irony is that I'm flying to the UK and Europe for a 3 1/2 week tour and all I'm bringing is a bow, rosin, clip-on tuner and a set of strings. Everything else is provided. I could have probably back lined all of it but the Tour Manager is a friend and I'll provably leave everything with him in England when I come home.

Sushi Box Slampegg, it’s a stomp box version of a B-15/B-25. Definitely not MBOL but I really dig it, very three dimensional. I run it into an old Fishman Dual Parametric as the DI on my fly rig or into a Clarus SL. Pickup is a Realist.
(fwiw Nathan is a commercial user here on TB on the Ebass side.)

Not MBOL in what respect? If there's a baked-in sound, how would you describe it?

John, can you post a higher-resolution pdf? The small print is illegible at any magnification.
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Kristian, I have just heard that we have started assembling a batch of 200, which should be completed in the last week of May. I am thinking about setting up advance purchasing on the website. It is possible though that it could be delayed a little further.
Would you like to be one of the first to purchase EDB-2 VAP ? Thank you, John of Headway

Hi Ric, we are not out of stock of EDB-2 HE. We are sending them out. The UK despatch people were on holiday for a week but are back now, but they were still being sent out from Poland or by distributors around the world.

EDB-2 VAP, the expanded valve version will be out in June, I am pleased to announce.

I hope this helps

John of Headway

Dear A Blumley, Richard Vice, Rick Wolff and all at TalkBass. I am expecting the release of EDB-VAP in June ’23, but I cannot guarantee it will not be delayed. We can give a refund at any time, but I would prefer you not to purchase if a short delay of release might be a problem.

Until it has been added to the website, you can pre-pay via Paypal:

[email protected]

In the paypal notes add:

Priority Pre-Purchase of EDB-2 VAP ~ Valve Alchemy Pro

Your name and full delivery address:

Billing address if different:

A phone no. for delivery:

Email address:

A Tax Number or Business Number Reference if relevant?:

Special Intro Price as to be received in UK Pounds please : GB £499.95

I expect initial despatch to be from Poland (EU), with later despatch also from the UK.

N.B. Exchange rate yesterday was about GB£ = US $1.23

We decided not to include batteries with EDB-2 VAP as they necessarily do not power the valve function and initially that might cause confusion among people who have not read the manual. I am sure you understand.

Thank you

I think you have to buy those from David Letterman's production company:

Hi Ric, a friend put his bass and stick bass through a prototype EDB-2 VAP using passive ( bass) piezo bridge pickups and was very pleased with it. He also tried the company acoustic bass guitar with Headway HE5/AB.FEQ under saddle active into it and same results. It brings out a deeper, rounder, fuller tone without using EQ. See the pre-release notes today. You can email today if you wish to discuss it further? Thanks, John
