Hi All,
Very cool to be posting in my favorite sub-thread on TalkBass, The Luthier's Corner
I recently traded a Korean P-Bass for a Breedlove Acoustic that had major damage while being shipped.
Some might say its junk, but still sounds really good and I'm not super concerned with aesthetics
Clearly there is a puncture in the soundboard, binding is de-laminatiing from both sides and a couple finish cracks as the result.
I was thinking of trying to add a veneer patch to the damaged top, and carry it around the side and back. I also wanted to glue in some type of bracing to bring the punctured part out to make the top level.
I was wondering how this would affect the tone as it really doesn't need much help in that area, and I would hate to take something that sounds good and change it.
Taking the whole top off is really more than I'm willing to do right now. but I do want to prevent the damage from getting worse.
Any help or nudge in the right direction is greatly appreciated.
