Brett Favre Retires

Let's face it without Farve, they(Vikes) are skrood. QB is the fire plug of an offense. Unless one of the younger cats is really good, it doesn't matter AP and all the supporting cast. Gotta have a good QB and OL, without those offensive football is dead.
Stick AP and other "weapons" behind the OL and QB of Saint Louis or Tampa. All those guys stats and ability would plummet like a shot duck.

Jus' sayin'

:D

Hey.

Agreed. Minnesota fans should be more angry with the front office for not finding a capable QB than with Favre for coming back. The Vikings FO had to get Favre back in the fold this season.

I don't think TJ is the answer, but perhaps Sage can manage the game much like Dilfer did with Baltimore back in the day.

Maybe so Mike. I don't pay as close attention to prospects on other teams than Dallas, so I don't know a whole lot on either of those guys.

If I were a Vikes guy, I'd be praying one of 'em had enough to fill in a time or two. I don't know if Farve can make an entire season without help.

Remains to be seen.

The comment was...."With AP, and the rest of the weapons on that offense".

-Mike

The rest of the weapons on that offense are RECEIVERS.

No FAR-VUH, they're pretty useless, hm?

I agree with what you said, the real bad guys here - from the Vike fan perspective - is the front office and coaching staff that has allowed this to happen.

I know a few (good guys) Vike fans, and they're PISSED. Pissed at FAR-VUH, the FO, the coaches, and the team for first tolerating the actions of this drama queen and second for not doing SOMETHING to make his antics irrelevant.

When (NOT IF) FAR-VUH goes down for the count, the Vikes are toast. Appropriate image:

No FAR-VUH, no hope for this team, and with their offensive line and the fact that EVERYONE is going after him this year, because now they've seen how to beat the team....

I predict no playoffs in MN.

With AP they're OK? This should help you gain perspective on that idea:

That team is pretty well stacked on offense, and AP is a top 5 back. Tennessee doesn't have a decent QB, but they won 13 games with a RB and a game managing QB that had zero WR talent to throw to. Just one season removed from that, they were 8-8, and didn't win until VY was thrown back in. Still zero WR talent, and a terrible D.

IMO, they are better off with Sage than they are with TJ. Jackson has wheels, but Sage is better for the offense, especially if they go dink and dunk passes in between AP runs.

The Vikings can win with TJ or Rosenfels, will it be enough to get them into the playoffs? I have no idea. Is it enough for them to win between 7 and 9 games? Most likely.

...man, everyone continues to ignore something:

Adrian Peterson is a FUMBLE MACHINE.

He's got talent, but he can't hang onto the ball. The only reason the team did as well as it did last year was that FAR-VUH would gunslinger them out of the holes they were in - and he got lucky more often than not.

That won't be the issue this season...

Emmitt was offered between $10-$13.4 million dollars over the remaining length of his contract multiple times. He wanted $13.5 and until he got it, he refused to play. So it actually was over something as small as .7% of his salary.

What Emmitt wanted and what he eventually agreed to probably aren't even close to the same thing. Such a negotiation is a two-way street, too. If Emmitt really was only asking for $100k more than Jones was offering, it would have been pretty ridiculous for Jones to say no for that long. And this is the guy who gave Deion Sanders $35 million two years later.

Peterson's career average is 1494 yards, and 13 TDs per season. He may fumble, but he is a weapon, and a significant threat. Even if you exclude his yardage 2 seasons ago (when he rushed for nearly 1800 yards) and bring that in line with his other 2 seasons, he still rushes for more than 1300 yards, easy. Added to that the fact that he has had over 300 carries in every season, when you look at his totals, his fumble rate is just over 2%. By comparison, Reggie Bush has a career fumble rate of almost 3.5%.

Bush is not the focus of the offense buddy. :) The Saints have far more potent weapons than Reggae Boosh.

The fact is, AP almost single-handedly set the Vikes up to lose the NFCCG by putting the ball on the carpet repeatedly. Good 'ol Brent just sealed the deal with his poor choice...

Oh, and you need to worry about YOUR local team's production this year dude...not the Saints. ;)

Dude... Don't try to reason with Gard with numbers and facts. He's far too delusional and wrapped up in his man-crushes to listen to reason.

True, but considering the deals at the time (Thurman's among others) Emmitt anted to be the highest paid back in the NFL, and he got that. There was no caring about the fans, or the team, or a championship. His eyes had dollar signs in them. And Jones was losing without Emmitt. If they would have been winning, I have no doubt in my mind that Emmitt would've never got the deal he wanted.

My whole point is that Brett isn't the only NFL player to miss camp/the pre-season over trivial things, and he isn't the only high profile player to do it.

Everyone in this thread that is anti-Farve has other players in their respective franchise's history that have done ridiculous things that they are willing to overlook, while still chastising Brett and his supporters. That is what I call hypocrisy.

OK so Brett isn't the only player to miss camp due to trivial matters, but he is the only player to repeatedly "retire" until camp is over and then autmatically show up deciding to "give it one more try". I call accepting that on a repeated basis lunacy not hypocrisy.

If you don't see the arrogance of Farve specifically manipulating the system, you're not paying attention.

I'm not anti-Farve, I'm anti allowing one guy to get away with any, but especially "repeated" BS.

I'm not here saying he should get clobbered or anything like that.

Emmitt pulled his stunt once, not twice (I say three times, because Farve "could've" reported, even recovering from surgury). I'll say again if he could toss the ball in Mississippi, he could've reported. It's not as if he was in too much pain to stand.

Farve's done this intentional and here's the key word REPEATEDLY.

The day an average NFL player doesn't have to report because he's recovering from surgury, I'll accept this, until then, I'm not.

Guys lose their careers doing what Farve's been allowed to do twice.

Doesn't make sense.

The difference is - Emmit came out and said "pay me or I'm not showing up"

He didn't come up with lame "maybe I'm retiring, maybe I'm not, maybe I'm too injured, maybe I'm not" excuses to avoid camp - he was actually honest.

This is my problem. The linemen are there doing two-a-days and working their asses off - literally. While they make good money, they aren't getting his contract.

They need to pull a "Longest Yard" and just stand there after the snap and let Farve deal with it for a couple plays. Thanks for being a team player and showing up for camp a$$ hole.

That's just it, Brett is not a team player, period. If he were he'd do what he could to help his team, irreguardless of being able to participate in on the field activity.

Here's a question for the Farve defenders; If this isn't a "big deal" and it's just trivial as "everybody does it", and Brett isn't pulling this crap intentionally, Why is it that Brett waited so late to have the surgury that caused his "recovery" to lapse into camp?

Didn't he sustain the repaired injury at the end of last season?

What gives?

+1 Ray. If I may add, Wes Welker was injured on the last regular season game for the Patriots vs. Houston, had surgery immediately and is NOW playing and has been at camp the whole time. Granted the age difference may be a factor but what Ray is saying is true, in my opinion.
