My God, will you just admit it :

He was holding out (not for $$), but for media attention & letting things cool down from the sexting "non-media scandal". Ask the Jets players & fans what type of teammate he was and ask Jen Sterger what he was "holding out". Espn and media suck ups won't admit it but some of us will.

Regarding Emmitt, I'm not so sure you guys are right about your figures. Got any links? Bill Simmons was writing just last week about holdouts and felt that Emmitt's was totally justified--he was being dramatically underpaid compared to Aikman. And that $13 million certainly wasn't his annual salary, it was spread over a number of years. Ah, here it is.

Type No. 9: The "Look, I Outperformed My Deal, I Am Woefully Underpaid And You F------ Know It" Holdout

Perfected by Emmitt Smith, who made peanuts compared to Troy Aikman heading into their first Super Bowl defense, asked for a new deal, didn't get one, then walked until Jerry Jones finally rectified things. Being a stubborn billionaire, Jones decided on a staring contest. The Cowboys lost in Week 1. The Cowboys lost in Week 2. So much for the staring contest. Emmitt had a four-year contract for $13.6 million before Week 3. And yes, the '93 Cowboys ended up winning the Super Bowl again. Maybe the only holdout that still generates fond memories for everyone involved. Even Jones.

I'm not gonna search for it right now, but I believe Favre waited 5 months after the season to have that surgery. Was there a legitimate reason, or is that just a passive-aggressive tactic?

You are right about Emmitt, it was not $13 million per year. Thurman Thomas had just signed for $13.5 for four years, so Emmitt wanted more. He held out until he got it.

I don't have enough first hand knowledge of the situation to comment as to why Favre waited for the surgery. It probably isn't right for any of us to question the time frame either.

I still hope someone from the Saint ends his career on opening day. I don't care if we go 0-16. I want this pompous jerk out. I am so tired of this crap. It's a joke. It's insulting. And even worse, I am giving it more attention than I should and contributing to the problem.

Emmitt was offered between $10-$13.4 million dollars over the remaining length of his contract multiple times. He wanted $13.5 and until he got it, he refused to play. So it actually was over something as small as .7% of his salary.

I'll bring the serious elephant in the room; The more Brett plays, the higher the chance of long healing injury, much less catastrophic injury. What will the Vikes do if he has to sit out a month from injury and they lose the opportuinity to even go to the playoffs?

Well... The only other options are Sage and TJ. If he's out, they have to go back to one of them.

Even with Brett, they need to be planning on the future. If they are confident that either Sage or TJ is the future franchise QB, then they need to take the steps needed to help them develop. If not, they need to be trying to trade for "theur guy" or scouting QB's all season.

I don't think an injury hurts their chances too bad. With AP, and the rest of the weapons on that offense, its going to be hard to keep the points off the scoreboard, even if you just have Rosenfels managing the game, and playing not to lose.

If he's injured AND the team excuses him - then it wouldn't be a holdout... but otherwise (even unable to physically perform) he should be there.

How did you come to find out the team had been demanding his presence at camp, and Favre had been refusing to attend?
