Brett Favre Retires

Even better than that, he had one turnover in both Super Bowl games, pretty good considering everyone wants to nit pick over playoff turnovers in must pass situations. He was even 5 TD's to 2 ints in last seasons playoffs, and the same with the Packers his last season in Green Bay.

Yeh, he really never did anything worth mentioning at all, including during playoff time.

Brett is/was a phenomenal QB, and despite the supposed personality problems, or the nitpicks about him not showing up to camp (surgery anyone?), he has done things as the QB of a football team that no one else can claim to come close to.

Farve haters can nit pick about all kinds of things, but you can't deny any of the above.

Most of this isn't objective, either. No one said he never did anything worth mentioning. It's not nitpicking to say he has turned the ball over at absolutely the worst time in several big playoff games. It's also not nitpicking to say he doesn't show up to camp, he's done it in several different seasons. As for this year, he waited how many months to have surgery? And his ankle isn't an excuse for not showing up to camp, anyway.

Regarding the numbers: 5 NFC championships? I thought he'd only been to the Super Bowl twice.:confused:

He's one of the best QBs ever, no question about it. But good grief, the media has made excuse after excuse for him over the years when he's screwed up. Even when he came right out and said it wasn't his job to mentor Aaron Rodgers--in retrospect, a sure sign of the preseason attitude he's taken since then--most sports reporters (and even Pack fans at the time, it seemed) soft-pedaled right over that.

So now there's a backlash. Some of it may be over the top (don't count Gard, he's always over the top ;)), but it doesn't come close to the slurping up Favre received for much of his career.

Facts are more objective than I don't like Favre so I'm spamming the thread... My entire argument was disproving the he choked and had a ridiculous amount of turnovers in playoff games. The reality is there aren't any NFL QB's that make it through the playoffs with flawless numbers, and there is only one is the last decade who has better post-season numbers than Far-Vuh.

And I posted how many playoff games he had played in, not the games that his team had won.

It is absolutely factual. He's thrown numerous picks, or thrown a game ending pick, in almost every playoff game that sent the Packers home since 97.

2009 ViQueens vs NO....ended with a pick
2008 didn't make playoffs
2007 vs. NYG ended with pick
2006 didn't make playoffs
2005 didn't make playoffs
2004 lost to Viqueens, 55 qb rating, threw FOUR picks
2003 vs. Eagles, ended game with a pick
2002 vs. Atlanta, 46 qb rating, 2 picks
2001 vs. Rams, SIX picks
2000 didn't make playoffs
1999 didn't make playoffs
1998 vs. SF. Had a decent game. The infamous where Rice CLEARLY fumbled on the last drive, but got the Rice no call.
1997 Superbowl year, lost to Broncos
1996 Superbowl hear, beat Patriots.

ANY questions. ANY result performance you'd like to see YOUR QB have in a playoff game since 1998?

I don't think you disproved that he choked (and cheez has now provided evidence that he has). Can you substantiate that only 1 QB has better postseason stats over the past decade? Anecdotal numbers don't do that.

OK, when you say "championships", it implies that they were won. Playing in five NFC championship games is certainly an accomplishment. But I'll point out that the almost universally disparaged Donovan McNabb has been to four.

What else do you want? Comparing turnovers in playoff games is about the only way to determine which QB's are choking in the playoffs, and using the same number of games or going back an equal distance is about the only fair way to do that. I'm not picking and choosing numbers that fit what I want to say, most of the QB's that everyone wants to compare to Brett don't have playoff stats before 04, and of the ones that do (Warner) their playoff runs have ended as bad (picks at the end of games) or worse.

C'mon Man, Brent has been playing for nearly 100 years and he has but the one ring to that we give him credit.

His greatest claim to fame is longevity and his boyish enthusiasm.

IMO, the really great QB's have powered their teams to multible league championships.

I'll most remember Favre for the consecutive games started streak. He was one tough dude before his body started breaking down. I'm not so sure any of the current QB's have a shot at breaking that record Favre holds. Well, maybe Tebow. :D :D :D :D

Agreed. I didn't see any of it, but my dad did and I looked at the play-by-play stuff.

Quinn throwing a pick-six was a bonus.:D Couple more games like that and Tim could move up to #2.

I am not a Favre hater but this is where the hypocrisy of so many fans comes into play. I could name a whole bunch of players that if they were to do what Favre has done (blowing off camp) people would be calling them every lazy, douche bag in the book. Favre shouldn't get a free pass for not participating in training camp. Period.

John Phillips, a promising Dallas TE, tore his ACL and ended his season in the Hall of Fame game.

He can/has to take that chance, Why not Farve????

Anything you can possibly surmise, IMO involves special treatment and isn't fair and equal to other players.

Breaking News, The Diva has landed in Minnesota as of 6:15 PM, EST.

If I were his teammates I would be embarrsed; and as far as ESPN is concerned- I have lost any shred of respect I had since the LaBron James suck-up festival.
