Brice 6-strings- any opinions?

Well, I bid on this, good choice? Should I buy a new preamp for it before I get this bass?

I had that model in fretted, and yes, you will probably need to change the preamp unless they've improved them from early on.

I also changed the preamp in my second Brice 6, the Z series.
Made a world of difference again.

The typical replacement seems to be a Bartolini preamp. I was almost going to get one for my Brice Defiant 6 but I never did. It was probably a good thing, too. I hardly play it anymore and have considered selling it. I don't know what you need to look for in a preamp. The description of the Brice 6 string basses on Rondo Music say that the pickups are active. I don't know if that is true, though.

Okay everybody, here's the status.

I have the bass and the 4.6 P/A Bartolini Pre's coming in the mail.

Overall it was a $362.20 purchase, as I got the bass used on eBay and the Pre's off TheBassPlace for $160 plus all the shipping and tax charges.

Did I score a good deal here?

Man, I just PM'ed you with a lot of info...I guess you really DO work fast!!!! I wish I read this before I wrote that long-assed PM with pictures! ;)

I'm waiting for a Rockbass Corvette Fretless 5 that I just won last week, too. Seems a lot of people are on the fretless kick lately.

I actually saw that Brice on ebay around the time my auction was ending.
