Bridge question - Hipshot D

If you are working from a CAD design, the placement shouldn't be much of an issue.

No CAD here. Paper and pencils all the way!! It's worked for me so far so if it ain't broke....
I'm not too concerned with placement. I can figure it out. My biggest concern was the amount of travel in the saddles, but I decided to go for it. It should be here by Friday.

Keep us updated. If available in a five string, this probably just jumped to the front of the line for my next bass.

Can't speak for the 5, but the 4 arrived Friday and the thing is SOLID. If they make a five, just go for it. Based on the four string model, it's awesome. I'm very impressed with everything about this bridge. Even the tailpiece, which I figured would be a separate throwaway piece, is made to the same quality as the bridge piece.
This bridge is a TOTAL win in every way, as far as I can see. Of course, I haven't installed it yet, but I don't foresee any issues.

When you say "solid" are you also referring to weight i.e. "high mass" bridges? Or simply the quality?

Just out of curiosity, does a two piece system offer any tonal qualities or other benefits/alterations compared to a one piece, or is it strictly aesthetics?

Not sure why I would switch from the industry standard "A" style? Is it made to replace a cheaper stock bridge that I don't recognize or is it just so people can try something different? does look nice and solid for sure.

The headless systems do seem to work nicely though. tom
