Bridging the Music: Scam or legitimate?

why the hell would I want my band name mentioned in this controversy?! i dont want people to google my band name and a potential "scam" post comes up. screw that! i just thought id give my two sense b/c i think they deserve more credit and I know how easily musicians can chew something up before tasting it themselves.

Dirty Lixx is a scam. We don't even really play our instruments. We are from the Soviet Union.
In Soviet Union, you do not play instrument. Instrument plays YOU.
How could I forget about 'Melt Your Face Mondays'. My band is always looking for some sweet Monday night gigs. And themes. For example last Monday's theme appears to have been Christian EDM/Acoustic Blues/Dubstep/Instrumental Jam Band/Unclear. That's coherent enough. If we could just get a metal band on that bill there'd be something for everyone.
It's only $12 a ticket so get your friends and family to come out and see the teeming crowds that pay $12 to get into a 5-band showcase at Cervantes on a Monday night.

Dangit. You beat me to it. But I looked up all those acts. Unless DJs are bands then his band couldn't possibly have gigged with Too Short and Rick Slick. I'm guessin' there wasn't a bass in the house that night. The plot thickens.
I don't get it. Why are they asking you for $6.50? You'd think any outfit that wanted to be taken seriously would be embarrassed to even mention such a piddling little sum.
And what's with the minimum number of tickets? They'd like you to sell them, but you don't have to? Then how is it a minimum?
What price do they sell tickets for? How much of that comes to you? At present it sounds like it could be a case of you sell the tickets, you put on the performance and they keep most of the money.
It all seems a bit weird.

Could still be a scam. Many scammers are creating "dummy" sites with positive review to make it look like they are legitimate.
I disagree with any of the posts that claim Bridging the Music is a scam or un-professional. Any and all experiences Ive had as a manager in contact with this company are great! And how can you not support their mission, They are advocating up and coming artists, giving them a "do it yourself" lesson on how to promote (which is key), and then provide an opportunity for exposure in a number of different towns across colorado. Bridging The Music is the bees knees, the cats meow! Don't hate on it for any reason. If you had a bad experience one time that didn't go smoothly, welcome to the industry! get used to it, its no ones fault and everyones fault at the same time, you cant point the finger at anyone side. From where I'm standing these guys do a badass job and can help up and comers do their thang!, Thanks to you BTM!

You're not wrong. Why the hell would they ask a few bands to pay pocket change? It's laughable. Better off buying some fish and chips instead.

Since this is your first post, and is related to a controversial topic, I suggest that you should introduce yourself -- fill out your profile and explain your relationship to Bridging The Music. What was your experience like? Where is your band at now -- genre, gigs, venues, etc.?
Note that I'm a neutral party, since I've never dealt with a ticket selling scheme. Yet it seems like most of them could describe themselves in seemingly innocent terms, yet they have a generally bad reputation.
Giving someone a "do it yourself" lesson seems like a contradiction.
Why the disclaimer about bad experiences, if BTM is so great?
I don't mean to jump down your throat. I'm sure that if you put your story into the context of your band and your experience working with BTM, it will clear up any possible misunderstanding.
