Brightest smoothest rounds?

Which bass are these going to be installed on ? Your vintage Epiphone - which is a short scale unit - or something else ?
Actually a Masada P bass that has a set of nickel rounds right now. I did a lot of work, it is bolt neck ash body but maple center block with walnut strips and maple rw board.....import 9k alnico 5 p pickup which I thought being underwound would be brighter but it is a very slightly dark thick sounding p bass.

As well the 65 Newport bass and another bass I'm working on, all mahogany neck thru body headless bass it tends towards dark and PJ pickup setup 34 scale.

D'Addario Pro Steels are my favorite SS string and have been for many years. Great tension, smooth finish and snarling highs. Though, as I respect the man and his preferences, I keep a set of Rotosound Swingbass on my Geddy Lee jazz bass. The Rotos are proving to be a true contender for the Pro Steels. A wonderfully rowdy set of strings on either account.

What would be the brightest round that is considered somewhat smooth or at least smoother than say most SS rounds in general.

I read about Rotos being rougher I've never tried them but I've heard Rotos on lots of recordings for example. Thanks in advance!
DR hi beams or maybe ghs super steels. Probably the brightest on the market

For the smoothest stainless steel rounds, you can try DR Lo-Riders. For the smoothest nickel rounds, you can try DR Nickel Lo-Riders.

Your word is good enough for me. One pre-purchase consideration: Lo-Riders are infamous for being stiffer than their counterparts. I'd be looking more closely at the lighter gauge set 40-120 as a counter-offense.
