How much does he charge? I never went to Tom Lee because I heard they had really crappy reputation for being the Canadian version of GC...employees not caring, some who try to sell you things that aren't from their department...etc.

That may be the case in some departments (although that's not been my experience in the bass or computer music departments downtown) but Dave is the antithesis of that anyway. He's a real honest-to-goodness dedicated luthier and solid pro bassist who saw the writing on the wall for running an independent shop in a town our size a couple of years back. His presence in a corporate chain store's repair department is merely circumstantial - he's the real deal. I don't know what he's charging currently but I have always been pleasantly surprised going to the till.

I'll do that. Problem is I don't have a car and lugging my precious P-bass all the way DT via skytrain seems kind of a hassle though.

My pal Jake's son's friend picked it up recently and then decided it needed more work than he wanted to put into it. Jake emailed me asking if I knew anyone interested and I hemmed and hawed a few minutes and then went for it. It has a bowed neck with no truss rod so we're gonna pop the board and install carbon fiber rods, do new frets and put on some good tuners. Jake BTW is a great luthier.

Plain and simple Dave Reimer is worth your time. Not only does he do excellent repairs and setups and build stellar instruments (not only are his current Fender type basses killin' his Dano copies are as good as any Jerry Jones and his acoustic guitars are magnificent sounding) on top of all that he's an incredibly solid pro bassist....he just gets it is a real lot of ways.

We're not allowed to use this post for selling stuff BUT we can post it in the classifieds and tell each other on this thread that we have stuff in the classifieds......I'll be putting up a bunch of pedals on classifieds soon (have one left there now)

Don't remember exactly but I found his setups pleasantly cheap - that's important to me since I have about seven basses. I mean - it's always going to depend on whether you've got major problems that need solving, right? But he's not going to pad your bill, Dave loves basses and wants to see them working the best they possibly can.

Could it also be that the truss rod was loosened so much to the point where it no longer relieved the neck? I feel like if I remove the strings and then turn the truss rod slowly and bit by bit clock wise, it'll "reset" back to normal.

Yeah checked it again today. Definitely no truss rod broken or and clicking sound.

I'm from the far other side of the country but I love BC. I've been out there 8 or 9 times and every time I've wanted to stay. I'm into mountain biking and DH skiing so it's nirvana for me. The North Shore, Whistler and the rest of the sea to sky corridor. Unbelievable mountain biking out there.

Hmm, just saw a job posted in Vancouver that I'm qualified for and interested in... :D
