Here's a thing....if it's gonna be "British Racing Green", it simply HAS to have white Racing Stripes on the body! Sports Car Rules dontcha know?

Nah, dude-- it already has a white pickguard.

What it needs is-- follow me here-- YELLOW racing stripes.

Jim Clark and F1 Team Lotus is why.

Love British Racing Green. Too bad Fender dropped the ball putting a plain white pickguard on it.

Also, for that price it should have a matching headstock.

Its actually parchment not white, so its just a little darker but yeah I know what you mean...

I'd throw a white pearl pickguard on it to imitate the Adam Clayton Jazz bass.

British racing green on Trimphs, MGBs, Austin’s, a Minis makes my heat melt. On basses, not so much. The green on basses than knocks me to my knees is Hunter green, with the matching head stock of course

Nice! I wish I had a 60s E-type decked out in BRG to match one of these puppies!

But ouch. Man... I've bought 3 new Fenders Jazzes so far this year, but $1050 for a basic MIM with an $80 pickup tossed in it just hurts my soul. :-( Let's hope these go on sale for $700ish like the flame top player Jazzes at GC.

I thought I saw a GC discount to $799 somewhere.

Interesting.
BRG isn’t an actual shade of green. It is used as a descriptor when referring to the green used on British Sports Cars and racing cars from Great Britain.

As a member of the Lancaster County MG Club, which allows all British cars and not just MG’s, I can attest to the many variations of BRG per Marque.

Wonder how Fender came about that particular shade?

The color is great. And that’s the pickup that my former #1 for ten years had.

But an ugly and cheap matte neck finish and no HSC for $1,150 after tax? Absolutely not! That’s a ridiculous price for an import Fender.

You can get so much more bass for that money (e.g. a very nice Leo era G&L, and still have money left over).

I might, on a generous day, pay $1,000 after tax, if it had a glossy neck and a quality hard case (SKB or G&G). As is, it should be a $600 bass: $500 baseline for a Player, with a $100 premium for the special features. It’s overpriced by 75 percent.

Seems like you need to spend over 2K to get a hardshell case included these days, I bought 2 basses last year for circa 3k and they came with gigbags...

Sad but true.

I bought one of these a few years ago when they went on sale for $499. It is a GREAT bass. I made some mods and here it is now:

I wanted one of those, but then saw the G&L tribute LB-100 in emerald blue. Ergo, I find that more tempting.

The 799 may be in that GC guitar-a-thon. I am tempted to get one for alternate tuning purposes.
