You beat me to it! Those Lotus cars were gorgeous. We've had a few examples visit the Lime Rock Park Historic Festivals here in Connecticut over the years.

Pretty much the only car I wish I still had. '61 Triumph TR3. Had to sell it when I hit black ice and slid into a car at a stop light in my "band van" and didn't want to claim on my insurance. Now worth 15 times what I paid for it in '76. Great color for a bass, IMO, but I'd wait for a better price, too.

Absolutely fantastic pickups. Clarity and depth I've never had before, all with a tight but very present bottom. I also got the J set recently, and I dropped that off with all the parts for an entirely new build to by tech last Friday. Can't wait to hear/try them!

Love the color! It would have looked even nicer with rosewood though (IMO) and QPs can be a bit hit-or-miss depending on what style of music you play.

Nice color but the price is a bit much. Unless you're playing an outdoor gig it'll look black anyway under typical stage lighting.

And as always, WHY does Fender do these wonderful paint jobs (speaking of the one mentioned by the OP) and then stick a plain unfinished neck on it, sticking out of it like the temporary wood plank they hang it off of to spray it? They look so much better with a matching headstock. Oh well . . .

Slap a 3ply Black pg on that, switch pickup to a SPB-1 and Rock it all day long.

Back in the early '70s I drove a friend to British Leland in NYC so he could pickup up his TR6 in BRG. On the way home he passed me on the NJ Turnpike with the top down and a joyous wave as he flew by me. I thought it was a bit reckless for him to be going that fast since the engine hadn't been broken in yet. I was easy to spot in my aqua '63 Dodge 330. I've never seen another 330 in that color.

The color is great. And that’s the pickup that my former #1 for ten years had.

But an ugly and cheap matte neck finish and no HSC for $1,150 after tax? Absolutely not! That’s a ridiculous price for an import Fender.

You can get so much more bass for that money (e.g. a very nice Leo era G&L, and still have money left over).

I might, on a generous day, pay $1,000 after tax, if it had a glossy neck and a quality hard case (SKB or G&G). As is, it should be a $600 bass: $500 baseline for a Player, with a $100 premium for the special features. It’s overpriced by 75 percent.

Regular Player series basses are nearly $900 though, not $500.

In Europe they are €900/$1000.

It might be heresy, but I’m thinking anodized silver aluminum would look better than gold. That, and a medium brown leather strap.

Hey, it's a limited edition.
Okay, limited to as many as they can sell, but you can always wait a few months until Fender ups the prices on the regular Player basses to $949.99 and and Guitar Center runs a sale on this new one and knocks $100 off the price.
And don't forget, twenty years from now it'll be highly collectible.
