broken tweeter? ... maybe?

so whats the deal with the 2 bulbs...?

Are you referring to the long glass tube dealies? Those are fuses. If you look at the element that runs inside the glass tube? can you determine it to be continuous or broken? If it appears broken, then it's blown, ergo? no tweeter. Fuses are there to protect the circuits frmo burning out. They will pop off if overloaded. The fuse value will be imprinted on the cap ends,or just take it to an electronics shop and they'll no doubt be able to replace them. Buy a few.

they both look like this

appears broken to me. correct?

think I could get fuses like this at a hardware store or home depot? gotta figure out what kind too... dont want to get the wrong thing

Are there any markings at all on the bulbs?
Every other cab I've seen used tail light bulbs, cheap and easy to get.
Here's a list of GK service centers in MA. They may be able to help, or not. The manual doesn't say what to use. Good luck.

IT LIVES!!!!

upon locating a NAPA autoparts store, I showed them the mysterious bulb device.

they didnt have the same exact kind of bulb, but we found one similar enough that it looked like it was worth a try.

ladies and gentlemen, I give you.

A WORKING TWEETER.

thanks to everyone who helped me solve this mystery!

Glad to hear it. Just to finish off, they are light bulbs, and they act as fuses. When you drive a gazillion watts into your cab then they blow and cost peanuts to replace rather than your tweeter blowing costing (possiably) Hundreds.

By the way, just a note on testing things like this, start at one end and and work back, its dead easy!!!! Oh and buy a multi meter, it will be your friend for life!

See you soon,

Rich.

You should get the exact replacement lamp that you need they are not all equal. If not you could be compromising the protection of your tweeter. You could end up blowing the tweeter itself next time instead of the lamp.
