Perhaps you fine folks can help me out here. While the big rig slumbers until COVID abates, I've been figuring out how to correct the thin/fizzy DI experiences I've had up until now (I run an always-on/blended OD and have other OD/Fuzz down the chain). I'm investing in a Tube DI and (most likely) a cab sim to stack in front of it, which then is going to run to an interface.
I know the Broughton HPF/LPF's are talked up a lot, but would something like a ShiftLine CabZone be better for DI fizz correction, or do I really want a HPF+LPF? I know they're accomplishing somewhat of the same thing when it comes to frequency roll off.
I'm also very intrigued by the Resonance Filter EQ. I play a Stingray with the EQ knobs dead center, but I've always loved how punchy filter-based EQ's can be. Would running a Broughton Resonance Filter EQ into the board get me a taste of Wal/Alembic shaping abilities while taming the DI fizz issue downstream? (Reader, I'm under no impression it would sound like a Wal/Alembic, mainly that it would help capture the philosophy of their on-board pre-amps.)
Further, is 12V necessary for these pedals with an active bass signal, or can I get by with 9V in the board daisy chain?

Bathroom was all me.
For the kitchen the builders are doing the addition up to interior walls, and I’m doing all the finishing work.

What are you using for a DI now?
For fizz, maybe start out with just an LPF (9V). You may not need anything else.
Broughton has them in stock.
I'm getting a Demeter Tube DI to warm up a Scarlett 2i2. My experience with DI's and fizz mainly comes through whatever the FOH is capturing.
That's good to know about the 9V on the LPF. Dunno how I'd cram in another wall wart
Great job! And nice tile choices. My year off from being music full time was spent working for a contractor friend learning to build and remodel. It’s been tough but super fun work! I can’t wait to get a beat up place of my own and turn it around. Sucks that the market in Nashville is so saturated, makes finding good spots to flip at a decent price really tough.
There's a good chance you won't need anything else. It shouldn't fizz.
Folks rave about the Resonant Filter Equalizer's tone shaping abilities. I don't have any hands on experience with it myself, but they are in stock.
IR boxes are fun, and the CabZone X is cool. You can spend a lot of time trying out different IRs, though. It can be one heck of a rabbit hole.
The tubed Sushi Box FX Particle Accelerator is based on the Alembic F-2B preamp. Might also be worth a look.
HP/LP pedals are in stock, but the last batch of RFE's sold out in minutes a few weeks ago and there have been none since.
