Broughton Audio Super Thread

At band rehearsal we do everything with IEM and most of my practice at home that way and it's perfect. I have the FT set with the bass dimed, treble 4 o'clock, gain about 1 o'clock cab at 11 o'clock. When I used those settings live it was muddy and extremely boomy. I turned the bass down, messed with the cab sim and couldn't get anything dialed in. I have to mess with it more but thinking the boost without the eq could be more useful for me.

I never go past 9 o’clock on the cab sim if I use it.

I've been keeping it lower since but when I lowered it that night live it just threw everything off so I couldn't use it without proper time to get it right. The show must go on.

Yeah...it gets trebly whenever you turn the cab down.

the whole reason I wanted the Fliptop was for the gain knob. So the ft boost works out great for me.

I tried ft boost -> two notes cab sim m and it sounded surprisingly good as basically a preamp.

Rearranged the board today. Gonna have to go bigger soon.

Or take something off

Hmmm... those settings are going to be pretty bottom heavy. Try bass at 9:00, treble at 3:00, and then use the cab as setting as a tone control - I prefer the 9:00 to 11:00 range for most things. Don't be afraid to go lower than 9:00 on the bass if necessary.

So just to be fair I am over the PTPro sized board. Last nights gig makes me want a MUCH smaller board. Got to thinking what’s essential and the SVD,SVP, Rumblefuzz, LS, particle and Polytope are all I need. Any recommendations for a board for those?
I'm using the pedaltrain metro 20. Your power supply is the tricky part of this board though, I have the DC brick and it just fits underneath.

Not sure of your order, but, a Warwick Rockboard 2.1 would fit quite well especially given all your top jacks.

I now have an unused Rockboard 2.1 because I needed a little more space so I went with the Metro 20 above. I liked the Rockboard for the angled design which provides more room underneath for other power supplies.

I’d suggest a Pedaltrain Metro 16, or the 20 as mentioned above. I use mine with a TrueTone CS6 underneath; it’s drilled to the board and fits with a couple of mm to spare. Like, as if it were made for the Metros (or Nanos, for that matter). Six pedals is no issue, personally I power 8 with it using two short daisy-chains.

I’m rebuilding right now, but the last “stable” version of my Metro 16 looked like this, to give you something for comparison:

(Current rebuild: replacing the Orange and Muff with SV-Pre plus Diamond Bass comp, and a Damnation Audio MBD-2. Also a Broughton LPF and Joshwah.)

I think the Metro 20 is what I’m gonna order. Thanks for all the tips guys.

I like the tilt of the Gator aluminum pedalboards. Their small one is 15.75" x 7", and their large one is 23.75" x 10.66". You can get them in several different colors, too.

+1. I have one of the 15” ones. Super sturdy, nice clamp on the bottom for your power supply (pictured here with old model DC Brick), and comes with a nice bag for collecting cat hair. :p
Random assortment of Brotones for your viewing pleasure.
