Broughton Audio Super Thread

Alright, real talk. What's the deal with peoples' issues with the SVD? Too boomy? Can it not just be turned down a touch?

I'm either trying to convince myself to get one or convince myself not to get one.
There's no issue with the SVD, the first "channel" is basically a tone control, and level of said tone control, of your bass/instrument, the 2nd "channel" is the same note as the original but changed to a synth tone. The third "channel" is half of your current note, its the sub.
I have had times where tracking was a little tricky, but once you learn to adjust your playing a little it tracks better than most all other octaves. Its cleaner than most octaves, this is NOT a OC-2 variant. The SUB is THE cleanest sub octave I've ever played. There has been talk of the original Synth Voice being more smooth lately, I've never A/Bd them, but it's said you can dial in the original with the SVD.

Nothings like the SVD, I thought I could get by with my Mk2/3 but I miss it too much, the SVD is one to keep.

But if you are tempted in trying one, I'd wait until the following drop, as he probably will only release 1 or 2.;)

Super glad I snagged one on the last drop! I imagine it's difficult to source good LM308s, given the popularity of modified vintage RAT circuits.
Same here.
I just realized that I only own 2 pedals (not including LB’s) that are in current production. And they’re both “utility” devices (RFE and FfXL). That almost makes me want to go and get a 3rd JW. Or something. I’m shame.

The Locust is the first Broughton I got, just months ago, after picking up a lead in the coming and going thread. So I'm glad I didn't have to sweat it on drop day. It is awesome.

After some time to learn a bit how Broughton operates, I think the LS being archive'd was probably to be expected as it seems he likes creating new stuff all the time instead of doing the same 5 pedals constantly.

I always thought you could buy Motorola LM308's in small quantities for about 6$ a piece from parts retailers or even ebay? For large manufacturers that's obviously not an option I'm guessing but for 25-50 units in limited batches they're still available if you want them. So it could be revisited at some point. Unlike the Apex, Sunray and Rumblefish? Which I believe Josh can't reliably source parts for? Possibly other designs also? If someone can correct this.

Yes, I know how the synth voice works... I was just reading that people felt the SVD was not as smooth playing, that it was boomy, etc. I was asking for personal experience on whether it really is an issue, or just people not knowing how to handle the different circuit...
