Broughton Audio Super Thread

Got me a Silver Deluxe this morning. I woke up without an alarm, went to the website, added to cart, checked out and went back to sleep. Woke up again later thinking I dreamed the whole thing. If the SD isn't for me you guys who missed out will hear from me.

As for the SSDI talk, I'm sure it sounds awesome and heard nothing but good things about it but I understand that a lot of people would rather go for pedals, like the QS, before a mains pre. Money being a major factor for a lot of folks for sure. Personally I've bought a single amp in about 12 years and haven't so much as tried another one during that time, so the craving for a mains pre isn't off the charts, so I also would rather try something like a Sunray or Quicksilver..

I like the idea of multiple drops on the same day creating opportunities for more folks to score something but I think in general the system works. The bloodbaths are bound to happen again, especially when the new pedals Josh talked about drop, but as lomg as Josh keeps on cranking out more pedals, the crushing and rage quitting will slow down I think.

Still very much on my Wish List.

Especially after seeing a picture of the Super Limited Edition White finished D-180... :drool::drool::drool:

I would do some terrible things for one of those. Think they only made like 2 or something like that if rumors are true.

I still kick myself from time to time for not buying yours when I had the chance!

I saw you mention that in another thread. Didn't know those existed... I'd do terrible things as well.

It is quite literally my new White Whale.

By the time you do the spendy spend to get one of those, you’d be getting into the rarified air that is the SSDI price point. And if you ask me (which nobody does) the SSDI is worth every penny at said price point.

I totally agree that if a Sunray or QS was to become available for sale (haha!) it could probably be priced somewhere close to the SSDI. I doubt it will happen though and I will probably end up with a SSDI before either pedals. I also agree that the SSDI at its price is definitely a great option for those looking for that type of gear.

it sounds pretty good on its own but I think it really shines with the sub soloed on the Octavbre with the TT switch disengaged and the OC-2 side. Typically I like TT switch engaged if I’m only playing the MKIII, but the normal mode really brings out the octave up effect when used in conjunction with the D2. Way more synthy IMO.

Nice, thanks for the notes! TT is Tim mode?
I might be running the Vol too low and Bass too high on my D2. Gonna have to try this out.

Yup, TT for Tim-Tuned(I’m sure no one’s used an acronym for that lol) but yeah try experimenting and see what works with your bass. I was running a passive P with flats for this setting with a fairly low output. I had a little bump in my level as I’ve noticed there’s always a little more level with the D2 engaged even at unity settings but it worked in the chain and worked for the part of the tune I was using it for. I tried another P with hotter pickups and the tone stayed fairly consistent actually, with a little bit more hair as to be expected. The D2 will handle anything you throw at it.
