Ok, I'm running an SSDI, SB, Para EQ and/or RFE. How do I get close to that S1 magic?

All I know is, left one takes away treble, right one bass. Pointed in on themselves is wide open (last two batches at least)
Closest I've found is Studio Boost into Messenger. I haven't tried the S1 into my SSDI yet, but I have a feeling the SSDI will be flat when I do. It will be interesting to see what the Scorpion is actually like, but right now my feeling is that the SSDI and Studio One are Josh's premier offerings. At least for what I like, which is fat/warm/clear/clean. That's my foundational thing.
I think the Scorpion will give me the kind of hair on demand that will work with that based on the SC demos.
I'm actually going to take my Bug Caster off the board because the S1 does the fattening I was using it for.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the S1 running into the SSDI but it really shines running straight into a power amp (for me at least).Most of the magic is in the gain stage, which you already have in the SB. But nothing beats the SSDI in my opinion, that's the real magic box. With your collection I'd say it's not worth it to fret over the S1, just enjoy what you have. It won't get much better.

I think they do very similar things, so it sounds like in conjunction it's probably too much of a good thing.

Initial impressions:
The ETDI adds a really nice punchy compressed warmth from the tubes. I only tested the unbalanced out versus the thru difference, and the sound difference was very noticeable. Once the tubes warmed up that is…initially I got worried because I really felt that the thru sounded better, but then the tubes warmed up, and there it was…the ETDI fulfilling the promise of t00by goodness. The sound difference was significant and it added a ton of life to the flat PJB suitcase. Super clean warmth whereas I struggled a bit with some light distortion on the pedalboard version of the ETDI and ultimately let it go.
I like the idea of putting this on a bus on my mixing board and sending all sorts of synths and whatnot through it to add some juiciness to my home setup.
Test setup:
Bass → ETDI

You could fit the mini boost, minus case, in a cavity
Before I had an S1, I used a Studio Boost > RFE > Messenger, all at 18volts, and it sounded very much like the S1, of course it's 3 pedals verse one, but still.

Yes, I agree. Some folks probably remember my quest for a messenger post SSDI/P15, and it does work, using a XLR>TS and a 24volt messenger, then your S1, sounded rather good infact.I had the same experience, good to see I'm not alone.
I'm really starting to dial in what the mini can do, I've got it on its own dedicated loop, I can add it pre/post where ever, so far today I've learned, it really is best behind most pedals, which makes sense, per DI locations
I personally would like a Neve circuit on a bass (or FFXloop), but just make it a switch, that doesn't affect output level, just the color of the output, like a bright or deep function
