what's that pickup?

Thanks man! It was built by Adam Stone. He does a lot of Carl Thompson-styled stuff, so I wanted something that was CT-esque but not a CT-copy. The headstock shape and the woods used were special requests. The pickup's from the EMG-HZ line, but I'm not sure about the specific model. I love the sound it has. It's kind of hard to describe, but it's definitely a unique sound and cuts through a mix pretty well.

Fender Japan made a Jazz bass that looks nearly identical to that. I think theirs might have had black hardware.

Damn!! I haven't seen one of those since the 80s!! I was one of their original endorsers (when Daion was originally built in Waco, Texas) and played them throughout the 80s. Damn fine instruments in their day!

I had the MarkXX-b (like yours) and it's maple brother.

Here's a brown vintage Attila Balogh bass, complete with maple neck, that I picked up from a fellow TBer yesterday. I was dying to show this one off anyway
