Brown Eyed Girl

For those of you who have trouble doing BEG check out the Reggae version on YouTube.
It's a little more up tempo still very danceable. It is a nice fresh version that my band has gone to with great reviews. Of course the bass solo stays and as we did years ago it two times through and done twice in the song.:-D

That is "the peoples' song"- the one that all non-musicians know they like. It is the most popular request besides "can you guys turn down a little?"

True story: on two occasions in my life, I have been in the middle of singing "Brown Eyed Girl" when someone has climbed onstage, gripped my arm and stopped me singing to ask if we could play "Brown Eyed Girl"- WHILE we were playing it. Drunk chicks effing LOVE Brown Eyed Girl.

The original Van Morrison record is pretty great, actually. That's not how most people play it at all.

I once was in love with a brown-eyed girl.

At about the time the song came out.

The relationship was a disaster. She wasn't in love with me.

Now whenever I hear that song I clench and unclench my fists, start breathing in labored breaths as a dark cloud of despair and futility sweeps across my mind. I then feel totally inadequate and vulnerable. Sometimes I break down and cry.

We broke up 45 years ago.
