Browne basses..I pulled the trigger! (pics inside!)

Great, it sounds like have thought it through. There are certainly advantages and disadvantages of either system (24 vs 29), so you're doing what works for you. As you no doubt know, the extra 1 1/2 inch scale translates to very little extra room between the bridge and the last fret of a 29 fret instrument, so I thought it was important to bring this to light. I like my 29 fret instruments a great deal, but sometimes I feel the urge to point out the concession that is made for the extra frets.
I think it might have to do with how thin the basses are. He builds these basses to be extremely light and balance perfectly. I trust that he has a eason for doing what he does. He seems to have thought his designs through pretty well.
I've been looking the site over. What is the deal with glueing up the bass in vacuum sealed plastic bags? I've never seen that before.
Haha, no I didn't get the neck height wrong. 
The spacer is there to accommodate the neck angle, the necks in my basses are not on the same plane as the body, they're angled back slightly for comfort and playability. The goal is to keep the left hand behind the right; this alleviates a lot of stress on the left wrist. As for concerns to sound it has absolutely no noticeable effect negative or positive.

Oh, and the vacuum bag is a clamp, it works great to get even clamping force over a large area like a body laminate.

By the way, I noticed the Gnome bass you built for Eduardo has a pretty high gloss finish to it...can you get that with the Waterlox you're using on the basses? I love the high gloss appearance!

Here's about what I can get with the oil finish, it's kind of hard to see with the lighting in my shop. I can get the high gloss oil finish, this stuff here is the natural, and they make a glossier version.
That is actually a figured walnut top. First full face top on a Milo! Is that the board you mean or the fingerboard? If you mean the fingerboard, it's Pau Ferro.

WOW! Look at the gloss in that oil!! That's looks fantastic! When you smooth and level the finish a bit, do you lose that amount of gloss/sheen?

Believe it or not, 3 months! He quotes 3-6 months, but he assured me he thinks it'll be done by Christmas.
I don't know why HMan's build isn't done...are you sure he didn't finish it? Perhaps HMan never posted any completed pics.

jacochops, that finish is done on that bass, it's all smoothed and shined up, it's really kind of neat how it looks in person. It's really glossy but you still retain all of the woods grainy goodness.

Wow....Mike's using waterlox? Finally someone is using that as a finish. I have a friend who tried waterlox after speaking with an amazing furniture builder who suggested it. Great finish.
