Thanks. I'm going to get a set for each of my Brutes and may also try a 4 string set on my Geddy Lee Jazz. For their price I can get the three sets and not have too much heartburn.

From the debut of the Brute series the MJX has gotten more love then the JJX, and I'm not sure why that is. I've owned, and modded one of each (the JJX with Delano pups and pre, the MJX with Bart pups and an Audere pre). After giving both equal time in my playing environment, I sold the MJX . I found I liked the sound of the JJX better in the end. Truth be told, I even liked the stock JJX sound over the stock MJX (both were first generation electronics). Maybe the MJX appeals more to the slappers???, and I can't slap to save my life :( . . . Walt, when you bring your clinic to ND, I'm in. :D I play 95% finger style and 5% pick, and for that the JJX sounds oh so sweet! Guess what I'm saying is that if you run across a nice JJX out there, give it some thought before dismissing it. If you like the jazz bass sound, the JJX is all of that, plus way more with a few tweaks of the pre . . . They're great basses too!

a2z speaks the truth. The JJX is everything as a2z describes. Also, I am the original owner of the KXB-5 Custom in a2z's avatar. That bass could give you quite a varied pallette of sound including a killer slap sound.

And, I'm in for Walt's clinic too. A trip Fredericksburg in early June is on the agenda. :)

I would love to try the JJX-5. Or any other Brubaker with JJ pups for that matter! I'm a J-Bass, fingerstyle guy myself.

So hey, what kind of hardcases will the Brute fit in? Since the rest of my stuff was stolen i don't have a case to try it with. If i'm not mistaken the Brute does seem to be shorter in overall length as compared to say (what used to be) my Fender 5. From past experience with other small-bodied basses i'm wondering if some universal-style cases will not hold the Brute very well.

I'm curious to where you guys are ordering the brutes from... I've been searching the web to find a mjx5 preferably in a satin finish with one those burst pickguards but I've had no luck it would be much appreciated if someone can inform me where there getting these or a link would be even better :D

Check ebay -> Search: Brubaker bass. Looks like Grand Central Music out of Duluth, MN just put several up for sale for Pre-Order on the highly anticipated new batch that's expected to arrive late march to early april, according to their add. They've got both the standards and single-cuts listed.

For what it's worth, I've bought from them before and found them very good to deal with.

Thats probably because a Satin finish doesn't exist :P

You can always use Brubaker's dealer list on their website, too.
