Brubaker Brute Club, Part 2

I was wondering about that too. Are you getting the "standard" or "custom"? I remember you said you were getting maple body, neck and board. If custom, what top wood and coloring are you going with? Just curious, and always eager to see another beautiful Brubaker! :D

Hey fellas, question for you all. So I'm trying to set up my Brute this afternoon after work and I decide that I need to take a little bit of relief out of the neck. I pull the allen wrench that came with the bass and it's too long to fit without removing the neck... I tried one of my own allen wrenches that was a bit shorter and it comes much closer, but still doesn't fit... Anyone else run into this?

Thats a bummer you didn't get the proper wrench with your new Brute. Probably PM Tom Richards about getting one that fits. Or, if you're handy with tools, you could do like I did and shorten and clean one up with a hacksaw and grinding wheel. Took me all of five minutes to fix that problem.

That's weird, a standard L shaped allen wrench works fine on mine.

I found I was nicking up/denting the edge of the cutout of my wood pick guard with the standard wrench if I wasn't real careful inserting it. So I cut off about a quarter inch. Problem solved. And I'm guessing the tolerances on the cutout of single cuts are similar to the US models, where only a cut down wrench will work.

It's a standard but it will be all natural with no coloring and with a black satin finish on the neck.

I too got the price list. Getting a Standard. I want the Brubaker tone so I won't miss the custom or extreme finish or price LOL!!!! Accoridng to Kevin the same amount of work goes into making a Standard as a Custom or Extreme. I am also only getting 22 frets. I'm not too much of a soloist but I am more groove oriented. I personally won't miss the other 2 frets. For most of the gigs I have done I'm supporting a singer or an artist and playing in a traditional role. I may get like one solo if any at all!!!!!! P.S. I may spring for a custom maple top in natural but that would be eating into my new cab budget.

Yessir!! I use the 212PL and the 15PL (both 8ohm). Both cabs together weigh less than one of my old Eden D115XLT's. Seriously, i can strap my bass over my left shoulder, my Streamliner over my right, and a cab in each hand. no roadie needed! The 212PL is perfect by itself for smaller gigs, and coupled with the 15PL i get really warm, big tone. They REALLY like being pushed by the Streamliner 900.

Very nice find!!! I've seen pics of that one floating around here and FB I think.

And yes, the Brubaker necks are truly a work of art. Set's them apart from the competition in comfort/feel and playability. Might want to try and play a Single-cut sometime. They're just a tad narrower at the nut, and the black satin paint amounts to an even better feeling neck. Just my guess on that as I've never played the Brute SC, but it's dimensions are similar to that of my US KXB-5, and I prefer that over the JJX-5 Brute I have just a little bit.

Are you a TB club number collector? If so, you can grab #32 if you want it.
