SWEET! Are those after-market fret markers? Like the block vinyl stickers that people use? I was thinking about throwing the black block decals on mine.

I finally put my 3 band Glockenklang in my single cut last night, and it is pretty screamin'. I thought I might want to change the pups once I got it in... I don't think I need to.

Very nice! I had a Glock in my Brute until I upgraded to the full Delano system. They are about as transparent a preamp as you can find. You truly get to hear the uncolored sound of the pups and wood. Also, I can't remember, do you have the MM pup coil tapping switch on yours?

Brute owners: Maybe some sound clips for us if you can??? . . . if not, please give your best detailed description of what your Brute sounds and feels like . . . similar to??? . . . unique in what way from what you're familiar with??? . . . etc . . . More and more people are stopping by the club page to find out what these Brutes are all about. Just trying to keep the curious informed.

Sound clips are a good idea... i'll work on some!

Anyway, just a lazy saturday afternoon... Kicking back with a beer, my Brute and 35lbs of thunder!!

(The thunder being my STL 900 and The Schroeder 15PL, obviously... :p)

Go on youtube and search for phillybass101. There is a very short vid of me playing my Brute MJX5 (all stock including the strings that came with it). Was done on a cell phone and a practice amp. Sound could be better but it is what it is.

Kevin just got back from China. He went to check out the next shipment of Brutes. I would imagine more will be available in a month or so. The newer Single Cuts have a different bridge. Supposedly more like a hipshot and I belieive they also addressed the weight issue on the Single Cuts as they are made from hard ash. Mine came in at 10.9 lbs. I sit alot when I play it Lol!!

Have any thread members here used D'addario Pro steels?

I love the sound of steels, but I have to stick to Nickels since i tune half-step down. Kindy spongy, but still well-defined. I did want to tell everyone that the Sadowsky Nickels with taperwound B sound freakin awesome on my Brute. I couldn't get a standard B to fit so i had to find a solution. Sadowsky makes a steel version too. I got mine from Bass San Diego. Around $30 for a 5 string set. Same gauges as the D'addario XL 165's if i'm not mistaken.

So no, i haven't tried the Pro steels.. :D.. hahaha

Just picked up a Brute JJX5 today serial number is handwritten B006. I don't know how that fits in the scheme of things but I do know that I picked this bass up and didn't put it down until I got it home. So I had a rehearsal tonight and bought it a long with my lakland.
I was able to get a nice sound with it stock and the neck made my playing almost effortless. I really like this bass and may do a different pre later on. I will post pics very soon my camera is at the job right now...Man what a nice addition for me..
