WOW, that's sweet!! I know they were messing around in the shop with several different color combos before the 2nd release. Maybe they have plans for more color options on the next batch??? Wonder what happened to those demo Brutes . . . hmmm???

I don't own a Brute but stop in from time to time and I have to say, that double burst is very nice! Really makes me wanna buy one.

Yeah you should be able to do a blend + volume with the EMG, that part is just the volume controls. You will have 5 pots, though...I just drilled an extra hole. I needed to do that anyway for the mini-switch for the bridge pickup.
I would also go with the Delano neck pickup if you're going to use the Nordy bridge pickup. It would drive me nuts having one covered pickup and one exposed! Otherwise you can get the Barts which drop in and you'll save quite a few bucks. The Bart neck pickup is around $50 less than the Delano. Hmmm. Guess what? I went straight to Barts instead with EMG BQC control . I wanted to ask you about your Brute with SGDs. Do you have sound clips or videos for it?

These are the NAMM show Brutes. Definitely on the plate for color options in production. Have your local shop contact me to see them at NAMM.
I don't have any clips but I do need to make some.
I have not A/B'd the SGD MM humbucker against anything else,the only other pickups I've had in my Brute was Bartolini Classic single coils. I can say that the SGD in single coil mode sounds pretty much identical to the Bart single coil and the neo Jazzbucker in the neck is nice and meaty, I keep it wired in series.
If anybody wants to sell/trade a set of stock Brute pickups that have been replaced, let me know. I can use either J/J or MM/J.
You looking for first run production pups, or the new ones? If the older ones, I have a set of both the JJ's and MJ's. Also have a stock Artec pre still fully wired to the MJ set if interested. The blend on it acts as the 3-way switch though.
Edit: You know, I'm thinking I should have just offered you my Brute parts drawer in one shot . . . would have saved a bundle on shipping.
Malcolm and I stopped by the shop today and checked out the Brutes Kevin brought back with him. The two MJX-5's with doubleburst finishes certainly lived up to the Brute name. The sound was massive. Seriously big, deep and punchy. The MM pickup soloed was just plain fun, had the vibe of it's namesake and was very aggressive.
I'm a big fan of 70's Fender Jazzes and the four string JJX was just stupid. All of these basses had pretty hot outputs and hit hard. Really hard, with very little effort needed. For folks anticipating the "need" for an electronics swap, all I can say is hold that thought. I can easily see myself gigging with any of these, stock.
I didn't get to play either of the singlecuts, Kevin was working on the one with the MJX electronics setup and the other wasn't quite done and was a pretty cool surprise... it's headless.
Didn't see that coming.

As if I was at a point that I can't wait for NAMM , this has given me the worst case of G.A.S. I have ever had . I am making sure to have plenty of cash available. I have to agree with Brad an the new pickups I don't see any need to upgrade my new JJX5 the tone is awesome, and powerful .now that it is set up as I like it has overtaken number one spot of my two brutes , the pickups are less polite than my Bart equipped brute but that's a very good thing I can get that aggressive grindy Geddy tone without a problem. Very good for live situation and in the studio as long as the blend is dead center no hum at all. After NAMM on sunday I will be playing a reunion gig and about four other bassist will be there . I really can't wait for them to play it.

Is this a single-cut, headless, Brute? Or a custom US model?
Yeah, after re-reading his post, that's what it sounds like. Crap . . . I had totally convinced myself that I didn't need a singlecut Brute . . . but that is just tooooo coooool!!!! And with soapbars too!! Why, why, why is he doing this to us?
I hope there is a single cut with a headstock , I'm really not to fond of the headless bass's. I've had a couple and both had this weird vibration on the lower portion of the fingerboard while playing that I couldn't get used to.
