There were some obvious spots were the bass line was slap and the bassist was not slapping. Although Bruno did a damn nice job lip syncing if he was not doing it live.
Overall I thought it was good though. Nice dance moves and a drum solo...

I watched pretty carefully. There were some slap-to-fingerstyle fills that he was clearly playing. It just wasn't YouTube-style slap where his thumb is flying all over the place. Just a few tasteful pops, mostly.
Bruno Mars' band did the whole dancing and playing thing at the Grammys one year, and there was a lot of cynicism here (something something lip-synced/pre-recorded/stage props/blah blah). Seriously, get over it and give credit where credit is due. Bruno Mars and his band put on a killer show and are talented musicians to boot.
RHCP came across as try-hards, if I'm honest, and I'm a bigger fan of RHCP than I am Bruno Mars.

Mars can sing, he can dance, he's the whole package. His band sounded fantastic. The RHCP segment changed the whole direction and sounded like a giant fart. Mars and his band had the place going and they drove it into a hole.
I saw both in concert last year here in Charlotte. Love the RHCP and they put on a great show. But I went to see Bruno not knowing much about him and he put on one of the best concerts I've ever seen. I would swear that halftime show was all live - that band is smoking and I'd be surprised if that was synced.
Not impressed with RHCP's performance. Just missed the mark.
