Budget 6 string bass

Hi,
I have been playing the 4 string for 6 months or so on a jay turser, and i got it used and now it's having all sorts of issues as I learn more about it. The tuners are having issues, the back pickup is gone and front is iffy, and the tone is way off. And I can't adjust it to work well.

So I want to get a new one and want to expand and get a 6 string. But I have a small budget which my ideal is 300-475 maxing out but the lower the better. Any suggestions?
Thanks

That's a beautiful instrument but 700 is way over my budget I saw ibanez grs206 any comments?

I've got BOTH a GSR 206 and an SR506. I got each used WELL under your budget. ($200+ range) Both are killer basses as are the numbers in between. They've got a nice fat killer modern tone plus a nice thin super comfy fast neck, light weight and nice action

My SR506 is older and is 2 band EQ. Still very nice. It and an SR306 are 24 fret which I like in a 6er but the 206 is not. The SR 206 has some uneven volume across the strings the SR506 doesn't. But you can tweak the 206 in with just a bit of EQ. But I tell you that in spite of the higher number basses being slightly better, you can rock the house with any of the SR basses.

Just root aroung looking used for any 6ers and see what you find. It's always best if you can try before you buy but even the cheap low-numbered ones are killer basses. Both mine are just plain old black paint but truthfully I like that better than the brown dull look they are going with now.

So now that I've gushed over my Ibbys let me also add that I've got three SX 6ers and while these may need a bit of setup and tweaking, if you want a Fender-style 6 string bass and not break the bank (even after mods) These do it. Mine three are set up with rounds, flats and fretless.

And I've also just bought a new ESP LTD 6er that is just killer for just over $400. Looks terrific, plays great and sounds killer. It's just a bit heavy though if that matters to you.

+1

$184.00 shipped to the front door.
I'm adding a Hipshot bridge that I paid $50.00.

+1 for Rondo. Nice selection of Brice 6 strings for not too much $$ or look into the jazz 6ers on the same site. Be prepared to put on fresh name brand strings, otherwise these play great out of the box. Check out 'Coop on youtube (11Coopbass)... he does a nice review of a jazz six from Rondo.

I have no experience with the Brice, but I have yet to see a good B string in your price range. Maybe if you got lucky and found a no frills, used Carvin.

The Ibanez GSR 6 string will make you want to puke the B string is so sloppy. I owned an SR506 and returned it within my 30 days... I wouldn't recommend one to an enemy but some guys love theirs.
