It appears that originality is becoming over-rated then...
Might you recognize that there is a difference when you are on the giving end versus the receiving end of the effort?
I've been on the other side, a couple of times. I didn't raise a fuss because a. there was nothing that could be done about it, b. in the other instance we adopted a design element that was growing in popularity and c. the time and effort would likely be wasted on a losing cause. I understand why you're bothered but in my case realized the futility in that. Take the bass guitar example I mentioned. Vinnie Fodera came up with the idea of the modern singlecut. Could that design element be protected? Apparently not. Many builders were inspired to do their take on it, including one I worked with. I don't have a problem with that, our basses were never confused with Foderas. I do have a problem with the import knockoffs that copy and even put a butterfly logo on their headstocks.
So... was the Veyron inspired by the Streamliner? Most likely. Obviously the back panel is no accident but who buys amps because of the rear layout? As far as the front, even from a distance I think each amp looks like itself. And their addition of multicolored perimeter lighting and the outsized lighted volume control were nice advancements on the style, making the amp much easier to use on gigs, which is my only nit that I'd pick with my Shuttle and amps in general.
