My latest bridge isn't pretty, but it is functional. I did it with hand tools (no CNC) and a drill press for drilling the holes for the screws. Here are some pictures. Build #4 (still mostly hand tools, 8 string tapping inst.)

Gorgeous! What is the spacing? I'm planning something but wanting it somewhat able to be play like a bass or a touch/tap so the spacing would be somewhere around 16-17mm I think...

Thanks. The string spacing (center to center is 10mm.) If you want to pluck and tap, then you'll probably want a closer string spacing at the nut than at the bridge. That is how it is done on the NS/Stick to accommodate those styles of playing. Coming from The Stick, I went to the NS, but when I built my own instrument, I wanted the parallel strings that I'd become so used to on The Stick.

Yes, it would be a 9 string 30" scale headless tapping instrument, because... why not?

I've already built a 27" scale headless bass where despite the short scale, the strings are remarkable taut so I figured if I could do the same at +3" then a low B should be fine.

Looks good. The EMG 6 string pickups only have a width of about 4 inches on the bar magnets, so maybe you could use two 4 string pickups place side by side with a bit of overlap?

Do you have any pictures of the 27"? I built a 30" 8 string and it worked out fine even with the thinner strings that I feel are optimal for tapping. Build #2.5 (8 str. tapping body rebuild, paint, pickguard, aluminum, strangeness, oh my!)

NBD (Finally!) 3 years in the making... Literally!

I'm not a fast builder... I had to source the neck on this one and found my only option is a tad narrow so you feel that further up the neck, but it is absolutely playable and *fun* with just enough heft to not feel like a toy but super compact.
