Building a tube amp for bass!

May be I'm missing something. There are so many schematics available on the internet. Pick one that suits your needs and build it. Transformers from Hammond and others are suitable and can easily handle bass frequencies. If you can read a schematic that's all you need.

I think he wants something prepackaged. I prefer that myself. I enjoy the studying and the building but the sourcing and fabrication is a pain in the ass.

As for the Ceriatone kits, all of the fenders seem to be tweed bass, probably not what he wants. They do have a Plexi50 Bass clone, which may fit the bill. With modern transformers and upgraded cathode bypass caps it will probably perform well in the lower registers.

Problem with that route is that you are confined to what is supplied with the kit. It IS a pain to fabricate a chassis but if one of the aluminium chassis from Hammond is used, simple hand tools will do the work easily. A few Greenlee punches aids with the big 'oles. As for sourcing parts, Antique Electronic supply Invalid Link Removed will get you just about everything you need.

Bassman paul= I would rather have a kit to clone one. But if i was able to find shcamatcs for b15, sb12, or b18 that would be great. I am already looking into the book suggested on page one since it says it has b15 info!

Also on your second post. There is nothing that me or the guys at my shop couldnt make! We have a full machine shop and two electricians. My problem is i dont have the experance with tube amps to look at a schamatic i know what i am going to get! I have modded one Epiphone valve jr. And only played two other tube amps. I would much rather clone somthing.

Sartori= I do understand the volume knob.LOL But i am trying to get some mild power tube break up at lower levels. If i am wrong corect me but i dont think i can do that with such high wattage amps. I know i can get preamp tube break up but if thats all i was after i would just buy a hybred.

Ahhhh, right.

I suppose there definitely is such a thing as too much wattage if you're trying to get breakup.
