Burned Amp

Unplug the amp, find your breaker or fuse box (if old house), determine which circuit has tripped breaker or blown fuse, reset breaker or replace fuse. That should restore power to your room.

The manual doesn't mention a breaker or fuse on the unit, but surely it has something. Probably only accessible from the inside. Anyone know?

I'm betting this is not the first time this has happened.

Your amp is most likely damaged. The amp should be designed to protect itself against such things. Often these days, when the line voltage has to be selected, there are internal jumpers that have to be configured rather than providing an external switch.

If you bought it from a retailer, if you are lucky, they will take it back no questions asked and repair or replace it. Admitting what you did isn’t going to help your case.

Really now ? We all pay the price for stuff like that, besides it being dishonest and illegal.
OP shaged up, time to man up and pay the price. Get it repaired, if possible or buy a new one.

If you open it up, look for a glass fuse. There is a thin piece of metal wire inside it. It's burnt up, replace that fuse and it might be fixed. Take the burnt fuse with you and find the correct replacement.

Or just open it up and take pictures of the inside.

That wasn’t my intent at all. I would never advocate being dishonest.

I was saying that the OP should simply return it and say that it doesn’t work. If the retailer asks, absolutely admit what happened. It may be obvious what caused the issue when it is examined.

My vehicle insurance for example, clearly states to never admit liability to the other party. They will sort it out. This isn’t being dishonest, it is are requirement of the policy.

The cost of warranty work is factored into the price of the amp. This is covered by insurance. The larger retailers are often more interested in making a customer happy and will overlook some unfortunate occurances. Answer any question honestly but let them deal with it however they want.

With your luck and penchant for questionable judgement, don't go messing around inside the amp. Contact the Ampeg authorized service center in your region. It can be repaired but will be somewhat costly.
